Just curious if a ref can be sanctioned for glaring errors like that.

When a referee makes a glaring error at a high profile match such as this they are likely removed from future games in the tournament unless they have a really good reason for not making the call. Repays show the referee had a direct view to the handling, as did at least one AR. Don't see how they could claim no view, so the crews tourney is likely done. There is also the possibility that her country's soccer association could remove her from the FIFA list, bu there are other factors that are taken into account before that would happen (ie, repeated mistakes, etc).

Try this link. The one posted above has been deleted by FIFA. This one will probably be taken down soon. If you haven't seen it, it has to be the most blatant no-call hand-ball in the history of the game. Un-freakin'-believable!

That would have been traveling in basketball where you are supposed to use your hands.

On fifA website their article states the referee did not see the blatant handball...

If I'm not mistaken, the AR's eyes should be on the ball at all times? So when the ball "disappeared" somehow, did they think the goalie had it? Or did they think it just hovered in mid air for the 3 seconds while it was being held?

On fifA website their article states the referee did not see the blatant handball... If you look from sec. 23-31, you can see that the ref has a clear view of the EG player holding the ball in her hands.

Assuming the referee is looking at the player holding the ball rather than looking elsewhere. Lojic, AR's first job is staying with 2nd to last defender or the ball, whichever is closer to the goal. They don't watch the ball but scan between offside position and play on the field. I find it hard to believe with 4 officials that at least 1 didn't see this. Bad explanations all around.
Of course I also remember when Esse Baharmast called a PK for a pull in the box in the 1998 world cup and he was routinely chastised by the media, fans, and even FIFA (he was removed from further games). His response was he knows what he saw. The next day a French paper had a photo of the pull on the front page, suddenly FIFA exonerates him and all changed. I guess where I'm going with this is that it is possible that all 4 officials missed it. Hard to believe but it is possible. Improbable, but possible.

as obvious as this mistake was, it pales in comparison to the officiating in the recent MLS games. The RSL-NE game was laughable, as was the LA-SEA match. it needs to improve or this league will always be 2nd rate

What you are seeing more is players getting younger and faster but the core of FIFA referees between 38-45 and most USSF Nationals doing mls over 35. Speed becomes an issue when you can't be close to play you make the wrong calls. Throw in the huge egos these officials have and it compounds the problem.
