Brackets are set up this way Bracket A Baton Rouge Capt. Shreve St. Martin’s St. Paul’s Bracket B Country Day Dutchtown Jesuit St. Louis Bracket C Bro. Martin Lafayette Northlake Christian Vandebilt Bracket D Catholic (BR) Newman Rummel St. Thomas More Based on the results and rankings from the past week, Brackets B and C are definitely the most difficult. It looks like 4 of the top 5 teams are in these two brackets.

no doubt about that. not a fan. B and C... whoa. no easy way out no matter how you look at it.
Catholic and STM will fight for D while STP could make it out of A with their eyes closed...
I would set it up as:
Bracket A St. Pauls Country Day Dutchtown Baton Rouge
Bracket B Lafayette Catholic BR Newman St. Martins
Bracket C Jesuit St. Louis Northlake Rummel
Bracket D Brother Martin St. Thomas More Vandebilt Captain Shreve

For my two cents....... The brackets should be put together after this week. Will the bracket games be 30 or 40 minute halfves?

Shreve for traveling so far for a tournament this tough.....very interested to see them play. Shreve is in an unusual position this year..Usually able to out possess and control their fate with all but a handful of the top teams... we had a huge outflow of dominant club players last year. We have good senior leadership but just a few of them to do so.. Our leading scorer is a sophomore, our second leading is a freshman..and as usual we are thin. Good junior class but we have gone many years relying on a steady stream of club players. We are goiing to have to start developing some kids as freshman (our JV only has 9 players) Capable of putting a single game together against a quality opponent (Dutchtown) but not really having the depth to handle multiple games against the caliber of competition we see in the top tourneys, so as usual I am hopefully optimistic but realistic. On paper we should match up well with BRHS if we are not too exhausted by the 3rd game and hopefully we should give St. Martins a good game as well in the second round. At least schedulers give us a shot at SPS by playing them first on fresh legs..hopefully we come ready to compete and give the folks their money's worth...Still even if we don't show well there is no better experience come playoff time than road trips against the top flight guys to give you a sense of where you need to work to get ready for that one make or break game where a thin team can leave it all on the line for 80 minutes

As a Brother Martin player, I am looking forward to this tourney! I think the brackets could be set up a little more evenly but I like them. Why would all of the best teams be in one bracket? That doesn't make any sense because it ruins the hype of the semi-final and final. Cant wait to see some of these teams play! Wish everyone the best of luck!

This ought to be a fantastic tournament - toss up as to which is the group of death - Jesuit (#3 in D1), St. Louis (#1 in D2), Country Day (#1 in D3) appears to be the group of death although bracket C is right there too

FYI - The links you provided above work correctly, but on your website the "Tournament Schedule" link is broken (i.e., "not found"). Earlier today, last year's schedule was still up there after brackets were announced...Also, your "Tournament Scoresheet" link (both above & on website) incorrectly (I believe) lists the Baton Rouge v. St. Martin's match at CYSA (at 9:40 a.m. on 12/27) instead of Hunter Stadium, which is where I surmise it is being played since there are already 2 matches scheduled at CYSA at the same time. Hope that helps! M Unit

For my two cents....... The brackets should be put together after this week. Will the bracket games be 30 or 40 minute halfves? guessing 25-30. Per the "Tournament Rules" link found thru the "Athletic" link at www.stpauls.com : "All teams are scheduled three preliminary games of 70 minutes. The semi-final and championship games will be 80 minutes in duration. In the semi-final and final games there will be two ten-minute overtime periods (golden goal format) and, if necessary, High School kicks. "Team standings will be based upon a ten point system: 6 points for a win 3 points for a tie 1 point for each goal scored win, lose or tie [up to three goals] 1 point for a shutout [win or tie] Group winners will be selected according to the following criteria: 1st point total 2nd head-to-head competition 3rd goal differential [three goal maximum difference per game} 4th fewest goals allowed 5th Penalty Kicks (NFHS)." Hope this helps! M Unit

(whew!)

If you (or anybody else, for that matter!) have never made the trek to the Northshore from NOLa or elsewhere for the SPS Holiday Tourney, it is absolutely a BEAST of a tourney - one that is well-organized & well worth the drive (even if just for 1 day)!
