There was a Baton Rouge girls team that reached the finals of the Gothia Cup in Sweden in field of about 120 teams several years ago. To my knowledge, this is the next LA girls team to play internationally since then. I saw this Fire team play a couple of times this year and they are an excellent team. Hope they have similar success, or more, in Germany.

A wonderful article about a TERRIFIC team of superior athletes with such impressive teamwork, attitude, and work ethic. It is a pleasure to play these young women. Their true sportsmanship: a Fine example for all to see! Good Luck. I am proud of you! (See you Saturday in Laffy!)

Just in case anyone is interested I believe I found the website updating the progress on the tournament in Germany. The website is www.onenationcup.de/Groups C and D are the girls teams (Groups A and B are boys teams). It appears (unless I am reading things wrong) that the CFJLA team representing USA is 2-0, defeating Japan 1-0 and defeating the Netherlands 3-1. They play Germany tomorrow and can win the group with a win or tie. There is a good chance they could play England in the semi finals.

If head-to-head is the first tie breaker than the 97G LA Fire Red have already won the bracket.

Looks like team USA has a good chance of making it to the finals. Just wonder how good are the teams in the D group. I notice the Swiss has scored 16 goals and given up only 2 in three games and Bosnia has scored 12 and given up seven. USA will play the third match in a few hours. I think they will make it to the finals! Has there been any video footage of the matches on YouTube?

Im on a school trip here in Germany, and didn't realize that the One Nation Cup was taking place in Bremen until today. Ive been staying in Bremen for 2 weeks, and wandered myself over to see the Werder Bremen stadium one last time before I left. The One Nation Cup is being played right next to the stadium, so I ended up getting to catch 2 games. Team Durban against Team Danzig ?) was a fun one to watch, with Durban being the definite better team. The next game I didn't catch the team names, but it was also fun.
I wish I would've caught the LA Fire girls. Good luck to them in the finals!

Per the team's website, the Strike Squad has won the One Nation Cup! They defeated Netherlands 3-1 in the championship game. Congrats to CFJ-LA and to all of those involved with the Strike Squad -- especially an extremely talented and well-coached group of young ladies!
