Congrats to the top 4 seeds and Deridder for winning tonight.
And congrants to the MCHS Lady Tigers on having a great season this year. MCHS soccer program has grown alot since it started, which was not easy considering the lack of support from the school and community. The coaches and players continued working and it payed off, and now hopefully with the success, soccer can begin to grow around here. Congrats again on a fine season and congrats to all the other playoff teams.

"Congrats to the top 4 seeds and Deridder for winning tonight."
mctiger, how would you compare DeRidder's play tonight with other teams that Morgan City has played?
I had a four-year old daughter with me and left after the first 12 minutes, when DeRidder was ahead 3-0 and had almost completely dominated the game.

well since i wasn't there but guessing that since Deridder won they are probably one of the better teams Morgan City has played this year....unfortunately the game had to be played in wet conditions which is never an inviting environment for a soccer game

Looks like the seeding gurus got this Division perfectly, with the top 4 teams ending up in the semis. We will see if it plays out in the end.

I see that Parkway and Turling has all only travelled one time, does this mean that neither of them will most likely hold the championship at home?

I see that Parkway and Turling has all only travelled one time, does this mean that neither of them will most likely hold the championship at home? Vandebilt, Parkway, Tuerlings, and DeRidder will have all traveled one time. It appears that the highest seed in the final will host the Championship game.

isn't the rule who traveled in the previous round, then who traveled most, tied after that high seed hosts. I can't remember.

If Vandy wins they host the final. If Vandy loses and Parkway wins, Parkway will host DeRidder. If both Vandy and Parkway lose, Teurlings will host DeRidder.

Vandy 4 DeRridder 0
Halftime score.
Soft rain the entire first half. Vandy scored first on a beautiful cross by Alexander and a finish by Chapman. Second goal called back for unknown reason. Flood gates opened with a second score by Chapman on a free kick set play with another cross from Alexander. 3rd goal from about 20 out off of a deflection. 4th by Chapman again. DeRridder is playing hard and has had several advances with no score. Possession is about 70/30 Vandy. DeRridder also lost their sweeper on a hard collision with Chapman. Hopefully she made it back for the second half. Had to leave due to Valentine commitment to my better half. Good hard first half by both teams.

Well there is a wide spectrum in this division so the haves and have nots will vary. All Louisiana Soccer will suffer in this area until we can build it stronger in all areas. Even in D1 you have some disparities but I am proud to say that I see some teams closing the gap. I can only hope that this plays out in the long run and is not just a short term trend. It is important that all fans, players, coaches, and anyone else that loves soccer to keep promoting it and as popularity grows it will get better. Also take the time to volunteer for youth leagues as they are vital to introduce soccer to kids at younger ages. This is very important to not only find the stars of tomorrow but to also develop the technical aspects early for better team play later.

VDB Vs Deridder No offense to Deridder but it wasn't even close. I came to see some good soccer but I could not believe it was a semi-final play off game I was watching. It was 2 nothing after 15 mn and Deridder hopelessly trying to clear the ball out of their 18's the entire game, They fought very bravely and obviously never gave up but they were so out-matched. If that's all this division is able to put in for a semi-final you might as well give the title to Vanderbilt right now. This division is VERY weak. Compare this semi to just the teams in the quarter final of Division I and you will understand what I am talking about. I am sorry but offense is taken. There is no purpose to this post but to belittle young ladies who have worked extremely hard since conditioning began in September. As their coach let me first tell everyone how proud I am of each one of them. We started 2 seniors 1 who can play for any school in the state and 1 who saw her first soccer field her freshman year. 6 juniors 4 of whom played their first soccer in their freshman year. I learned that Vandy began the season with 60 girls most with experience, while we at DeRidder began with about 3 with D-1 and above club experience and several who never participated in anything but high school level soccer before this fall and I would be willing to bet that there are many Division II high school teams in the same condition. Top level Division I schools have an almost unlimited talent pool to choose from. So while we may not play what you would consider attractive soccer we have played well enough to reach the Semis and that is something to be proud of regardless of anyone opinion so kindly keep yours useless one to yourself. Thanks Shane Wilber DeRidder Lady Dragons Proud Head Coach

Let me also add to my last post that we are working to change this in DeRidder. Last fall was the first season we played as an LSA club and this year will be the first time DeRidder has ever had a spring soccer league, most of this due to the hard work of the boys coach David Wilber. We are working on changing the attitude towards soccer here and also trying to change the " my u-8 team must win" to a must learn attitude, but this takes a while but we will get there. So please be patient with us, we will continue until DeRidder soccer is talked about with the same respect as St. Louis and other top programs even if it kills us or more likely drives us insane

Well said, Coach Shane! Lady Dragons worked very hard to get to the semi-finals. It is sad to see that someone would post such a slap in the face to these impressive young ladies. And to a coach who has taken a team laden with girls breaking in their first pair of cleats to the playoffs every year he has coached for DHS.
We had four starters injured. Three of whom after missing at least a week of practice took the field and gutted it out. The other one wanted to but coach judged that she was not physically ready. Our coach has never encouraged an injured girl to practice or play, but these young ladies after getting the permission of their physicians and parents wanted to play (and win) so bad that they were willing to put up with the pain and give it their all. Since you were at the game, soccerbruno, maybe you noticed our bench is not very deep.
Our seniors were the epidome of leadership on and off the field. Both girls are honor students who exemplify high moral values and right thinking. Every girl on the team played her heart out yesterday. Let's give these girls a well earned high five as they walk away from the final game of their season and for two of the best girls I know the final game of their high school careers.
