while I believe all of the kids picked on 1st and 2nd team are deserving, I am disappointed in two things. One - not one LHS player made first team and second Matt Green didn't get any all state honors. This is just my opinion, the coaches voted and we need to respect their choices. There is not ONE player on the list that isn't worthy. henery10 what does making an ODP team have to do with the body of work in high school? The coaches need to vote on that and that ONLY! Like I said all the players that made it are worthy but I was hoping and pulling for a couple of kids I thought should have been on the list. Congrats to all of the all-state selection, YOU ALL ARE WORTHY of the honor! just proves he is very good and deserving of making 2nd team. lovesoccer used the shreve sps game as an example. shreves 4 goals were all unsavable but the 1 st pauls goal actually hit the shreve keepers hands. the shreve keeper is probably deserving, but to knock bowers off the list would be wrong to him. maybe the coaches should have put 2 keepers on the 2nd team like last year.

Mckinnis over maher? St. Pauls would have been out of the playoffs in the second round without the heroic efforts of its seniors and juniors. It appears at times that soccer pedigree and name recognition often clouds the judgment of thosing watching the performances of the players on the field. An all state player (or for that matter all district) should have just as much success against the tough teams they meet as they do against the weaker teams. McKinnes is no doubt a good soccer player. It is a shame however when younger players are pushed in front of talented more experienced older players when recognition time comes for whatever reason. There are exceptions to this statement. Mullins and Conner Randel come to mind because of their impact on BIG games. McGinnes does not. So there is your spot for the Lafayette kid(s) left out.

Just to clarify...Matt Green had the ball and a defender stepped out and the ball deflected off of the defender and went in the goal. In fairness to Shreve and the defense, it was a kick from 5 or 6 yards out. It would have been difficult for any goalie or defense to save that one. I certainly don't think that you should classify that goal as savable by the goalie.

Who do yall feel should be removed from 1st team for an LHS player? That is the only way they would fit. I'm looking at the list and its hard for me to decided who really doesn't belong. PM if you don't want to put it on the board. i think if you read my message I said I was disappointed no one from Lafayette made 1st team and I respect the coaches choices. I would never get on here and say take this guy off for my guy. Hope that clears up my point of view.

I thought National team has nothing to do with HIGH SCHOOL. It is only what you do at HIGH SCHOOL that matters. It does not matter what you are going to do after HIGH SCHOOL. You could go play in a co-ed league on Sunday mornings or be a four year starter for national champion college teams, but if you do not care enough about your HIGH SCHOOL and instead want to go on vacation to Argentina and miss the BIGGEST GAME OF YOUR LIFE (other than winning State as a Freshman, and of course being favorites for your senior year), then you should not be All State (unless you also happen to go to a Lafayette area school, in which case you should be voted All State in all the positions you may or may not have played since junior high).
Hope that clears this up.

Mullins lead jesuit in goals this year and created about a quarter of the other chances so... he deserves it the fact that he wasn't at the state chamionship game does not reflect on his ability, it just goes to show he had a good team around him, this shows with the other three 1st team selections and a second team selection, he deserves to be there no doubts about it

Furriner, are you serious? You say that the best player in the state should not be All-State because he missed his state championship game? If I'm not mistaken, regional and national team status is just a little bit more important than a high school game. Yeah, it was an important game, but he's trying to play soccer at an international level, so he took this trip to help. You can't blame him. Anyone in their right mind would choose to play in an international competition rather than a state championship game. I know that I would have done it in a second.

Wow. That might even be worse. So 4 forwards and 3 defenders. Every defender in Louisiana should feel shafted, they took one of your positions away to give it to someone who couldnt earn one of the three forward spots. Funny how that works, that you can just create an extra position and take another away.

Who knows if all of the worthy ones were even nominated since only 18 coaches were reportedly voters. And if you read the rules, ( www.lhssca.org/Bylaws.htm) the amount of players selected was determined by the votes. You must have received at least 4 votes to be placed on 1st team and 3 votes to be placed on 2nd team. All of the ranting about players being left out should not be directed towards the ones that voted, but towards the coaches that didn't!
