As much as it's fun to think of the another team getting a chance to hold up the trophy, I can't pick against Jesuit. I predict Jesuit 2-1.

On a more serious note, score will be a repeat of the Cpt Shreve vs. Jesuit final in 09. St. Pauls scores first then Jesuit comes back to take it 3-1... 3-2 AT MOST. St. Pauls is good but Jesuit is great, as much as we hate to admit it. This game will determine All state mvp: Cabos vs. Mcinnis. Good luck to both teams

As the St Paul's Tournamement final showed, these two teams are well matched, even though both were missing some key players if I remember. One thing that I think will give the Wolves an edge is that their coach has stuck to a 15-17 man rotation regardless of the score, so in a hard fought match, they will have players who have played meaningful minutes, not just mop up duty. That will be key in case of injuries, fatigue, cramping, etc. Again, I say 2-1 St Paul's, 1-1 at half.

Take it all the way down to Causeway then jump on I-10. Should be there in no time.

If Jesuit doesn't lose this game.. I think they will have another unbeaten season next season. St pauls and Lafayette won't be AS GOOD as they are this year. I'm not saying they won't be good but they both will be losing really really good players. Jesuit will also be losing a few but I still see them being able to handle st pauls amd Lafayette You must not know anything about the club level. St Thomas More is the U-17 Lafayette premier team and next years St Pauls team will be this years U-17 Mandeville team, which has won state 3 of the last 4 years.

Those coming from Northshore could be screwed. Napoleon will be a zoo east of causeway.

Caesar rolls in Metairie at 6. Since Katrina, Metairie parades have not been that well attended, so I don' t think it'll be a huge problem.
For those coming from the Northshore, Causeway should not be closed, as Causeway goes over Veterans.
If you're coming from Lafreniere Park, get on Veterans going east (take a right out of the park). The first I-10 entrance is what you want, and is only about .25 miles from the park. Get on it and stay in the second to farthest left lane. Take the 610 split. Get off at the Canal Blvd exit. Take a right on Canal Blvd. You'll go under a railroad track. The second street after the railroad is Navarre. Take a left on Navarre. Go all the way down to Orleans/Marconi. Take a left on Marconi and start looking for a parking spot because you're now in City Park.

This will be a great game but you have to go with te Js. If you were betting your house on it who would you pick? Let not forget, and while it is just a scrimmage and I know that I will get blasted for it, St. Pauls did beat Jesuit in preseason. Say what you want, it happened.

It is very difficult to win the state championship in any sport every year. Enjoy it while it lasts. The Jays are enjoying it now. I find it hard to remember who has won over the years. Thanks for the 25 year of Championship history in another thread. I am amazed at how many times Jesuit has been in the Championship game of Division I.

Since we seldom get in depth reporting of soccer in our local media, I thought it might be fun to post what we might wish could be an article analyzing these two teams in the local papers.
Since most of the credit for these two teams reaching this point is given to the large number of club players gracing their rosters that is as good as any other as a place to start:
1. Clubs. The Jesuit roster includes 13 members of the LA Fire Red 93B (formerly Lakeview) team, 11 of those being seniors at Jesuit and 2 being juniors at Jesuit. This Club team is a repeat state champion and currently in 3rd place in the RPL Central Division, notching wins against all of their Louisiana competition. The Jesuit roster also includes 4 members of the LA Fire 94B (formerly NOSA), all juniors, which also plays in the RPL Central Division, currently in 6th place. The remaining Juniors play for the other Chicago Fire premier teams which plays in the Louisiana premiere league. The St. Pauls roster includes 6 members of the MSC Lakers 93B, 5 of those being seniors and 1 a junior. Interestingly the two remaining seniors on at St. Paul were both former players on the this MSC team who moved to more successful teams, 1 to the Lakeview team which is the home of most of the Jesuit seniors. Like Lakeview, this team also plays in the RPL but with much less success, currently in 7th place out of 8 teams. The St. Pauls roster also includes 11 members of the MSC Lakers 94B, 10 of whom are juniors and 1 sophomore. This club team, like Lakeview is also a repeat state champion and also plays in the RPL central division, currently in 4th place although losing to the Baton Rouge Soccer Club 94B they did notch a win against the NOSA team.
ADVANTAGE JESUIT
2. Seniors. The Jesuit roster includes 13 seniors, 11 of whom play club together. All 13 were members of last years Varsity team. The St. Pauls roster includes 9 seniors, 5 of whom play club together, although 2 of the remaining seniors have played in the past on that MSC team. Only 5 of this years seniors played varsity last year, with the remaining 4 all members of junior varsity last year.
ADVANTAGE JESUIT
3. Juniors. The St. Pauls roster includes 12 juniors, 13 with a junior pulled up from JV. 11 of the juniors play club together. Interestingly the starting goalie is a junior who previously played with the MSC club team but moved this year to the Gulfport RPL team. The Jesuit roster includes 17 juniors who are spread among a number of club teams. The advantage given to St. Paul in this category will likely be more meaningful next year, although Coach Collins will have had two years with this group together and by this time next year may have swung this pendulum back his way. For now though:
ADVANTAGE ST. PAUL
4. Offense. On numbers alone, these two teams are evenly matched, 131 GF for St. Paul, 127 GF for Jesuit. DRAW
5. Defense. On numbers alone, these two teams again are evenly matched, 6 GA for Jesuit, 9 GA for St. Paul. The difference, however, is that 5 of the GA for Jesuit occurred prior to January 1, Jesuit having allowed only 1 goal since the St. Paul Holiday Tournament. St. Paul, on the other hand, has allowed 5 goals in the same time period, 6 including the goal Jesuit scored in the finals of the St. Paul Holiday Tournament. Also, the Jesuit back line, including goalies, is the Lakeview defense. The St. Paul back line, includes 2 members of the MSC Laker 94 team, but is missing a key element of that club team who plays basketball for St. Paul rather than soccer. In addition, the defense includes seniors who did not play varsity last year.
ADVANTAGE JESUIT
6. Superstars. Each team boasts a senior superstar. Jesuit-Cabos. St. Paul-McGinnis. Both are superb players who play club ball together at Lakeview. Cabos has a history of coming up big in big games. McGinnis, while clearly a great player, has not yet been the difference in a really big game. Until he is…
ADVANTAGE JESUIT
7. Venue. Tad Gormley, New Orleans. Jesuit is in New Orleans and historically turns out huge numbers when playing in championships in New Orleans. St. Pauls is less than an hour away and also capable of turning our big crowds. The parades that night, including the one in Covington, will affect the Northshore crowd more, although St. Pauls will have many fans that night who are fans simply because they are looking for the upset. Still…
ADVANTAGE JESUIT
8. Referees. There has been some talk on this board about Jesuit “getting calls” including some questioning of a St. Paul goal in their last meeting. It has also been recognized that in fact the calls often reflect the frenzied style of play which often results from teams being far outmatched when playing Jesuit. This should not be a problem in this game. Further, while the talk is no doubt intended to influence the referees against Jesuit, the referees in this state are more professional than that and no doubt will call a good game.
DRAW
9. Experience. No discussion needed.
ADVANTAGE JESUIT

Very interesting analysis. The referees will probably come from Lafayette. Since both teams play good soccer, it should be a fascinating game. I think Jesuit's depth will play a role in the ultimate outcome of the game.
