Just curious as to how Calvary is still ranked ahead of W. Ouachita in Div. II? I believe W. Ouachita has won at least 2 against Calvary this season. Having played both, I would have to give the nod to W. Ouachita. Calvary is good, but W. Ouachita is solid, front to back.

Glad to see Ouachita Christian getting a little love. We have played Episcopal (BR), Runnels, West Ouachita, Calvary Baptist and have West Monroe, Menard, Neville (make-up) and Calvary again. Hopefully we will get our chance to break the top 10.

When will the next poll come out? It would be nice to put records by the top 10 teams.

I believe the next poll should include St. Thomas Aquinas over several of the teams listed
They have been playing some good soccer.. Should be a good matchup with PJP.. good luck to both teams

Would someone please explain to me the method of voting for the polls. In the division III poll, Sacred Heart, Episcopal and Runnels, all with multiple losses, are ranked high. However, a team which is playing exceptional soccer, University High is only ranked 8th. Also on the subject, a note of praise to Coach Ramsey of University for not allowing her team to run up the score in their games against outmatched teams.

Should be a good matchup with PJP.. good luck to both teams To be exact: Holy Savior Menard, Hannan, Episcopal of Acadiana, Ouachita Christian, Northlake Christian (STA has not even gotten a vote) - and also, I believe they would be competitive with the other top 10 teams, hence drawing a game with Runnels The only loses were in Tournament play to a 5A physical team Hahnville & Hannan team early on in the season(but once again tournament play) Different philosophies are used.. Like someone else posted about University(who I've been able to see play) are a good side and should be ranked higher as well. Great teachings coach! Way to keep the score down a bit on some of those games

That's fair. I am new to all of this so I am learning. I do see why Sacred heart is ranked where they are. They have played a very tough schedule based on rankings.
I think the cubs are victim of unlucky scheduling. Our coach schedule typicaly tough Div I and II teams around the area and some are not up to their normal standards and I think we are better than she expected after losing several good seniors.. She expected to be about .500 heading into Jan. We did play a very good Bay High (MS) team in the Hahnville tournament and lost 1-0. They are ranked like 147 on Max Preps and 17 in their state. Not too sure what all that menas since I could not find any rankings for the few LA HS I looked for on that sight and not sure how they rank schools in the state.
Looking forward to playing Epsicopal. Those two games should be fun.

Last Year Pope John Paul II did not get that good of seeding in the playoff. We got rank 11 and play three Baton Rouge teams: Christian Life , Runnels, and Episcopal Baton Rouge. We made it to the Quarter finals an lost to Episcopal Baton Rouge 3-1. We were told that the seeding was that low because are strength of scheduled. So this years the coaches got some quality games that has paid off on the rankings. Good Luck the rest of the year.

Loyola really impressed me. I see them making a good charge in January and into playoffs

Don't the polls have a say in the seeding? Seeding can mean a lot I would think.

Polls can influence seeding, but they aren't a direct connection. Seeding is based on the "average opinion" of the coaches of the 24 or 32 teams that make playoffs in each division. Those coaches that have seen many of them directly will weigh in with their opinions. Those that haven't seen a lot will likely use the polls to help guide their decisions.

Interesting that the coaches decide seeding. Seems like a system that has a lot of potential for bias.

With all due respect seedings do matter. Having to slug your way through a tough bracket can put wear and tear on a team to where they are not 100% toward the end. I do not know a lot about soccer yet but I do I know it can be very physical.

He said rankings do not matter.
Every bracket gets difficult after the first couple of rounds and there is not one dominant team this year in DIII. Probably 4-6 teams with a legit chance, depending on their playoff form.

I am sorry, I thought I saw where rankings do have some impact on seeding. Did you read #15? 15. Rankings/ratings/ seedings do not matter. To be the best, you have to beat the best.
