With the 8 additional teams, what will the tournament format be? Will there be two divisions or will there be 4 brackets of 4 all competing at one level? Will there be semi-finals now with the possibility of playing 5 games if you make it all the way? Just curious how things will be structured with the increased field. Looks like a great field, there should be some outstanding games between those D2 powerhouses.

Looks like a great field, there should be some outstanding games between those D2 powerhouses. Will be a 16 team bracket like the two boys brackets. 4 groups of 4 teams... seeded 1-16, in groups of 4 first... so you have 4 top seeds, 4 second seeds, 4 three seeds, and 4 fourth seeds. Then I take all teams to avoid playing each other and try to keep them balances as possible. After that... you will have a 1, 2, 3, and 4 in each group. I will look and see how it works this season.... If there are problems in competitiveness of the games (girls seem to have a bigger gap at times of haves and have nots in the two smaller divisions), then I will look into doing 2 divisions of competitiveness next year at Copa.

Could any of you rank the girls teams as you see fit...
from 1-16? Just curious since there isn't a whole lot of ranking info on this side for this season yet...
So, you the poster, can help rank girls teams for Copa Acadiana!

Seeds 1-16 1) St Thomas More 2) Teurlings 3) Loyola 4) Neville 5) Episcopal of BR 6) Lutcher 7) Lakeshore 8) St Louis 9) Northlake 10) Morgan City 11) DeRidder 12) ESA 13) Menard 14) Bolton 15) Catholic PC 16) St Fredrick Should be a good starting point. Add your 2 cents and we should be pretty close.... Anyone???

I think that list looks pretty good. I would move Lakeshore up to 4 and St. Fred's up a few spots as well.

Based on last season's power ratings:
STM Teurlings Loyola Neville Episcopal BR Northlake Christian Lutcher Lakeshore Menard St. Louis ESA Morgan City Catholic of Pointe Coupee DeRidder Bolton St. Fredrick
That's just based on last year, strictly by the number (assuming I copied them correctly). I have no idea which teams may have been affected by graduation, injuries, good new players, etc.

Lakeshore at least to 4... Last season final seedings were distorted having eventual Div II champion Ben Franklin seeded 3rd and Lakshore 6th.The core of this team are their 5 juniors who have all started for the past two years. Best and closest game of the Div. II tourney 1-0 Ben Franklin win vs. Lakeshore.

IMO you cannot reliably translate so-called "power ratings" across Divisional lines. For example, and not to demean any teams at all, but you cannot credibly seed Northlake Christian ahead of a Lakeshore team that found a way not, once, not twice, but three times to compete w/ eventual D2 champion Ben Franklin: losing 0-1 and 1-4 [this game was 2-1 BF until about midway through second half at Ben Franklin] and then 0-1 in a playoff game at Ben Franklin. Lakeshore was notably underseeded going into the D2 playoffs last year. If I were running this tournament, I'd ONLY try to seed the D2 teams; the D3 teams would NOT be seeded but automatically placed in the lower seeding slots as their goal is probably first and foremost to test themselves against better D2 competition, and certainly not to play against another D3 team in this tournament!

Not sure about that, as divisional wins count towards the wildcards come playoff time.

Hey Brian what is your thoughts on this? Thanks Barbedad I do have an opinion!!! I couldn't disagree more. Seeding the D3 teams lower and accept the fact they are there just to test themselves You think St Louis is there just to play some games against the superior D2 teams? Heck no. Coach Duncan and girls are there to WIN the tournament. Could you imagine if the boys teams ranked just the D2 teams and threw in the D3 teams to finish a bracket. You think St Louis, Episcopal, Newman, NLC and others aren't there to win the tournament?? I know there would an uproar if St Louis boys were ranked a 3rd seed in a 4 team bracket just because the are a Div III team. The teams above them wouldn't accept that. And with the playoff qualifying set like it is I think most Div III coaches wouldn't mind playing other Div III teams as long as it is not another district opponent. Just my 2 cents.

Looks good coach. I may have had Lakeshore a bit too low but this seeding looks good. Just like the playoffs if the top 4 seeds are set and the bottom 4 are set then it all works out in the end. I would be surprised if the top 4 seeds did not move on so here is my early predicitons. Semi 1: Teurlings vs Loyola Semi 2: St Thomas More vs Lakeshore Final: Loyola vs STM with Loyola winning 2-1
