If you were filling out a roster with the top eleven players all-time from Louisiana who would earn a spot on your team?
Mine would look something like this:
Jason Kreis (F, 1991 Mandeville) Jason Garey (F, 2002 St. Amant) Patrick Mullins (F,2009 Jesuit) Joseph Lapira (M, 2004 St. Louis) Josh Henderson (M, 1995 Bishop Sullivan) Stephen Pate (M, 1996 St. Paul's) P.J. Kee (M, 1999 Jesuit) Dwayne Jones (D, 2002 Newman) Josey Portillo (D, 2010 Grace King) Wil Wilson (D, 2004 Central Lafourche) Andrew Tarbell (GK, 2009 Fontainebleau)
Not 100% about the years they graduated, but should be close.

I'm not familiar with that many players from the 90's and early 2000s but I'll give it a (somewhat biased) shot
Joshua Menard (F, Lafayette) Ethan Judice (F, Lafayette) Patrick Mullins (F, Jesuit) Joseph Lapira (M, St. Louis) Steven Cabos (M. Jesuit) Adrian McInnis (M. St Pauls) Zach Kelly (M, Caddo Magnet) Josey Portillo (D,Grace King) Ross Kelly (D, Lafayette) Bradley James (D, Jesuit) Jonathan Foreman (D, Lafayette) Woops forgot the keeper. I'd pick Tarbell I would love to use this team on FIFA for sure.

It would be helpful to add the players' graduation year next to their school name.

jared montz mandeville (class of 01?) has to be on that list. won a D2 ncaa championship and had a cup of coffee with the chicago fire. pro career ended with knee issues i think.

LA XI HM: aderitter Scott Crawford chelsea007 copakid14 Tigertail coolhandluke doughamilton
It was really difficult to make these selections. In the end, I had to go with the names that sounded the best to me.

I will always cherish the moment I was selected to your XI pOkLE!

I like Timaeus's list, and it had no more that two players from one school. I have a hard time with this list for a number of reason's, including it has four players from one school. Do you seriously believe one school has produced two of the best three forwards ever to play in the state? That Ethan Judice is better than someone who didn't make either list like Maryland Freshman Ryan Reed? (Having seen them both play, Reed is much better to my eye). Beyond Cabos, maybe McInnis, and the few other players common to both lists, I can't take this list seriously. NewO P.S. To Timaeus: Did Dwayne Jones play defense at Newman? On the National Team? Ever? I thought he played further forward. Same with Josey Portillo.

I think for goal keeper, he should have used Robert Thibodeaux from Teurlings (Class of 2009). Best goal keeper in history of this area for sure and possibly state.

Neither Jones nor Portillo played defense in high school. Jones played forward for Newman and Portillo played mostly midfield for King. I tried to pick the eleven best and then threw the positions in later. Jones would have made a very good defender. Portillo was much better at possession, but I'd still want him on my team.
Each player in the first list either played professionally in Europe, the MLS, was on a national team, or was in the pool for national team players.

if were are talking best ever produced then you are starting with players who turned pro and then go to ncaa D1 and so on. jared montz and jason kries (mandeville) are 100% in as both played MLS. there is no dispute there if we are talking players produced. move to ncaa D1 mullins (jesuit), goalkeeper andrew tarbell (fblue). i think one of the judice brothers from covington high played D1 and semi-pro. adrian mcinnis (st paul) is contributing at the D1 level. Alex Bujenovic (catholic) is D1 ohio state.

I was also thinking Montz on this list... Also, what about Michael Hollier (Teurlings 2010) who has torn it up since going to Christian Brothers? He was one of best pure forwards in a while. Great off ball movement and clinical finishing.

Wish I had the knowledge to pick a team but unfortunately I only have been following hs soccer closely for the last 5 years.
There was a kid at Bonnabel who played for the Honduras national team. Forget his name.
I play on a team with a former IMG and Brother Martin kid who's brother, Josh Merchant, was supposedly one of the better players in the region before being diagnosed with cancer. Heard this from a few people and of course his brother.

if were are talking best ever produced then you are starting with players who turned pro and then go to ncaa D1 and so on. This is what I'm thinking. What other players have played professionally, either for MLS teams or other pro teams in the US or abroad? I know Anthony Peters (from BR Magnet) played a little bit for DC United and for some other pro teams. Also, since the original post mentioned PJ Kee and I remember him playing for the Shell Shockers a few years back: any other notable Louisiana products who played for them? I think there were probably a few other people from NOLA area high schools (Jesuit, Brother Martin, maybe some Central Americans from Bonnabel or one of the other public schools).

Cameron Smith from Beau Chene, one of the toughest and most talented strikers/ midfielders that I ever watched play the game.

Guys, the BEST players from Louisiana EVER!!
Not some dude that was better than average and stood out on his team.
Timmy has given the best list so far. Josey graduated in 2008.
Others to note:
Juan Rodriguez (I think the guy that lojic was talking about) - M - played at Belhaven and some semi pro Neil Gilbert (Caddo Magnet circa 1994?) - M - from what I hear, one of the best from Shreveport
Can't think of anymore off of the top of my head. Timmy took all the good ones!

I believe your graduation date for Josh Henderson (Bishop Sullivan) is correct. We won state in '94 and from what I hear he was a junior that year, so your date checks out.
Henderson is considered by our Athletic Department to be one of the greatest athletes to ever wear a Bishop Sullivan/St. Michael uniform in any sport. He even has his own plaque in our weightlifting complex, and they don't make too many of those.
