M In latest news, Beau Chene coach resigns effective immediately as forward to become full time manager and immediately signs M Unit to a multi year contraction a transfer from Fire Jrs... Terms were not disclosed but should be somewhere in the neighborhood of the Ronaldo deal to Real Madrid.

It's been quite the ride... M Wow! Definitely an oversight. But actually it's all beauchenecoach's fault (hence the lofty deal offered soon thereafter). You don't have "staff" credentials and thus weren't on my cheat list when picking (you can sort laprep members by "staff" but not much else). That's definitely his fault. Thus, my omission on my list was beauchenecoach's fault. I'm sure many reporters and contributors (eg, you, goat, upper90, happyjack, barbedad, goalieguy, Steven Gerard, hall97, barnacle13, etc) were left off. Maybe you should form a competing "xi" (you guys can be the lower case version). My XI will be glad to settle this on the pitch Two five-minute halves; on u12 field; 11v11; first goal wins [unless of course your team scores, then we're playing first to 2, unless of course your team gets to 2 first, then the winning team must win by 2]; unlimited, on-the-fly subs; referee calls only count if both teams agree on the ref's decision; no coaching from the bench sideline, only parents and fans on the other side may yell instruction, but only if more than one yells at the same time; absolutely no jumping or sprinting (both cautionable); 3-touch max; first-time finishes only; and, lastly, one player (on the field) must be, phone in-hand, reporting on laprep the entire time. Let me know if you're going to get your team together. We need to practice. Probably get two-a-days for a couple of weeks and then ease into our preseason friendlies. Let's play the LAprep XIxi Cup as the encore to the Sr All-Star Game in July. Great.

again, if there is a list and jason kreis (mandeville) is not #1 then you do not know enough to make a legitimate list. 14 caps, 108 MLS goals, '99 MLS MVP. kreis is the best soccer player to have played louisiana high school soccer by far.

I'll say he's the best that we know of. We know nothing about the players in the 60's, 70's, and most of the 80's. Also, Kreis was a great player but wasn't a top prospect. He was someone who was given the right opportunity and basically stole the show. His work ethic was, and apparently still it, definitely above and beyond most. Imagine if some of those kids at LSU would have taken their soccer careers a little more seriously.

I believe your graduation date for Josh Henderson (Bishop Sullivan) is correct. We won state in '94 and from what I hear he was a junior that year, so your date checks out. Henderson is considered by our Athletic Department to be one of the greatest athletes to ever wear a Bishop Sullivan/St. Michael uniform in any sport. He even has his own plaque in our weightlifting complex, and they don't make too many of those. I saw Henderson play once in high school. Either he or Jason Garey would be the #1 high school player in Louisiana that I saw play (I never saw Kreis play in high school, but saw the rest on my list). They were unstoppable. Henderson left Louisiana after his junior season at Bishop Sullivan and moved to Los Angeles while his parents stayed in Baton Rouge. There, he played for what might have been the best high school team ever assembled: the 1995 La Ca ñada. That team consisted of Henderson, who earned Parade All American Honors that year, and eight members of the California Flyers U-17 club team, which won nationals the following season. I believe ten players from that 1995 team went on to play professionally. Henderson scored 41 goals that year, a program record, which was only surpassed last month by Armand Bagramyan. After starting at Duke for three seasons, I think he was drafted into the MLS or played in Europe for a short time.

FWIW -I play left forward.
On another note...Tony Judice, Andy Frost and Jose (Tato) Landano all desrve a good look. Andy was a two time all-state forward (left footed but has a cannon with his right as well). He chose a family life instead of college ball and is currently a very successful home builder. Tony was a two time all-stater in midfield who plays with the New Orleans Jesters. He was a two year starter on a team that went 24-4-3 i his time as a starter. He also played with Joseph Lapira on the Baton Rouge Capitals and fed him dime balls regularly. He made PDL all conference as well as a Capital. Lastly, Tato Landano was the NCAA Divsison I Northeast USA soccer player of the year for the Evansville Aces. He went on to play professionally with Deportes Tolima in Columbia. He could have easily played in the MLS but turned them down because there was much more money to be made playing out of the country. Since his return to the USA after his career in Columbia, he has played with the Indianapolis Twisters of the CISL, Detroit Rockers of the NPSL, Nashville Metros of the A-League, Wichita Wings of the NPSL, Kansas City Attack of NPSL, the Nashville Rhythm of the A-league, and the Colorado Lightning of the PASL. He also had a long look with the national team but came up short against the likes of John Harkes, Claudio Reyna, Tab Ramos, Roy Wegerle, and Thomas Dooley (these are big names in US soccer history people...look them up!). Outside of Jason Kreis, he may be the most accomplished player in the history of the state in terms of pro/ semi-pro accolades.

I remember Jose "Tato" Londono (Covington, 1993) playing with Jason Kreis for the New Orleans Gamblers in the early 90s. They were a very impressive duo up top. He's definitely worthy of being in the middle of this conversation.

Don't shoot me on this- I'm certainly not qualified to even comment on this thread, as I've only seen a handful of games period from LA teams.
I liked Philip Hicks from Jesuit. He wasn't doing anything super crazy, just consistent and got forward well. I see nobody's mentioned him, so obviously there have been better. But what did you guys think of him?
He just kinda stuck out to me. I'd want him on my team.
