Congrats EA for locking up 2nd place. Another tough battle between these 2. I think EA solidifies the 9 or 10 seed. SJA should get the 6 seed.
Your final stats -- SJA shots 19 (14 OG), EA 8 (4 OG). Saves SJA 3, EA 13. Corners SJA 9, EA 3. Fouls EA 22, SJA 13.

I put first match between St. amant and McKinley at 3-0 St.Amant. If anyone has an actual score, please, post it. A St. Amant win has them knocking at the door on that last playoff spot. They'll need some help though I think to grab it.

Ok for those of us in the district of doom, let's assess our chances. I have to admit that I was a little surprised to see BR leap EA in seeding, especially since EA secured 2nd place in our district. But EA might like its draw. If they beat Walker (and they will), they draw Byrd. BR must get past a district rival in St. Amant (who is riding a waive of euphoria over being THE last team in), and then might play Mandeville. I give EA nice odds at making the quarters, BR slightly less so.
Dutchtown will have its hands full with Terrebonne (who apparently has a superstar forward), but I think they identify and control that player and win going away. Next up for them will be Mt. Carmel. That will be a tough task.
We should handle Central Lafourche, but then draw a buzz saw in Northshore. Hard to assess them. Not many out-of-district games, but had VERY HIGH QUALITY results in their district, including putting 2 goals on SSA.
I think we put 2 teams in the quarters.
Best of luck to our district 5 brethren!

I think Dutchtown would have trouble with Mt. Carmel. MCA's defense has looked very, very good recently. Dutchtown is very talented on the wings, but MCA did well to neutralize Dominican's attack last weekend, and Dominican is also an excellent team when attacking out wide.
A couple of the possible 2nd round matches you mention could be really fantastic. BR-Mandeville, SJA-Northshore, and Byrd-EA would all be great, probably very even matches.

Yep. Should be some really nice second round matches. I was a bit surprised by BR leaping EA as well, but PR has them ahead and they did have some very nice results against top 10 teams. Essentially identical records had to make it a tough call for many coaches. I'm sure they split on seedings, much like their district matches.
Would love to see a couple teams make quarters. SJA should be in good shape and the way they are playing I'd expect them to make at least quarters. EA and BR will have tough matches, but both have the ability to pull one out. EA at Byrd is probably the more likely of the two, but Byrd is pretty hot as well. Can't wait to see them play out!

Need one of our district teams to make the finals one year- is this it? Would be thrilled to see EA make it all the way To play Lafy and SJA should make it to match with MT Carmel. Don't see BR making it past Mandy.

SJA 4-0 over Central Lafourche. The guests packed it defensively. Their GK had several phenomenal saves.

Nice to see 4 teams in district moving on to next round. Too bad BR/STA had to face off and not give us chance to advance all 5. Good luck to the Spartans, Griffins, Redstickers, and bulldogs- every team will need it this week!

Very, very proud of how all of District 5 handled themselves in the playoffs. We're still alive [knocking furiously on wood], but everyone brought it up a notch. The district's top performance might've been Dutchtown taking Mt. Carmel to 0-0 in OT. Having just played MCA, hats off to the Griffins! This district is establishing itself as a force. We're out after this year , but I look forward to keeping a watchful eye on how District 5 becomes bigga and badda

Finish strong SJA Dad! I also finish (for a couple years) after this season. I have a sixth grader that will be either at BRHS or Woodlawn depending on the St. George issue. So give me a couple years and I shall return. I'll likely spend more time on the Boys side next season, during my son's Senior campaign.
Anyway, Dist 5 continues to show well! Hopefully that growth will continue and we can rival the Madneville/Covington area district in the future. All of our playoff teams showed well. St. Amant pushing BRHS in the Bi-district round after two lopsided regular season matches was impressive as well. SJA and Dutchtown both showing well against MCA. EA always putting up a tough fight. With the new PR, perhaps Woodlawn can join in the fun next season as well.

Before you go, I have to ask. Please explain the blue USA hand print on your head.

About 6 years ago, the then SJA coach arranged a trip to Houston to see the men's national team play Mexico. That pic of me was taken before the game after I'd allowed one of our players to hand print blue paint on my forehead and then my daughter added the rest. It as an epic game that ended 2-2. Here is a pic of my daughter (left) and her friend that went a little viral at the time.

Awesome picture. Glad to hear it was something like that. I thought it might have been a large birth mark (like Gorbachev). Or you were moonlighting as a member of the Blue Man Group and forgot to wash it all off.
I am pulling for Lafayette High tomorrow. My daughter (now in college) used to play with a number of those girls. But to be honest, I will not be that disappointed if SJA wins. Whoever wins, though, I will be pulling for to win it all.
