SSA corner. Played short and quick, then crossed in. Headed out, then deflected to the keeper.
Ssa regains, 13 dribbles into the box. Slide tackled away and she goes down. Corner. Sent in, bounces around, headed toward goal, cleared off the line, 12 kicks it, but misses.

All in all it was a good game and a fair result. Best two DI teams I've seen all year and a worthy championship match.

Kevin, Thanks for the play by play action on the game. SSA was the better team tonight, congratulations in a great win.
Offsides, you made a comment about the schools of choice thing. Just to let you know there are only 2 players who are not zoned for Lafayette High. In the 11 years under the current coaching staff i believe the most they have ever had was 3. That being said, to my knowledge I don't believe they have been on the field in starting rolls this year. So just like the private schools get tired of hearing about the "scholarships" or "work programs" (mainly football) this is getting old as well. I am not sure what area you are from but those are the facts about Lafayette high soccer.
Once again CONGRATULATIONS Doves.

Hats off to Katie Breaux and her team. A great coach and a great team. It is an honor to have success against a team of Lafayette High's caliber.

I believe you have at least two starting players from out of district this year and there may be more. In the years past, I can probably name more than 3?. It makes no difference because it is legal but let's at least be truthful. The facts are the facts. Hats off to the players at LHS for pulling together despite injuries and other setbacks to make another great run to the 'SHIP!

Hate to nit-pick, but...illegal equipment (blue shinguard holders against white socks)...recurring theme in EVERY game I've seen this year, including pictures of a number of other games.

Sorry to hear about the injury, you don't any player to get injured during any game. The girl with the cast has had that cast since her broken hand was surgically repaired 8 weeks ago. The cast is padded and is approved by the officials before every game. Probably a freak accident from incidental contact during a FAN-tastic Division I Championship game.

Yes. Normally on Saturday but played on Friday because of Endymion parade conflict on Saturday of Mardi Gras weekend.

I watched SSA play for the first time against Lafayette and they were a very talented team that deserved to win. Their style of play though was not aesthetically pleasing as throughout the game they constantly tried to go over the top of Lafayette's defenders, instead of creating opportunities through passing. Is this this SSA's normal style of play or was just their game plan against Lafayette? Not trying to be critical, just curious? Finally, congrats to SSA for the win.
