I want to say a special congratulations to Joshua Hughes of Westminster Christian and Devin Pathoumthong of Northlake Christian. To be selected (2nd Team) as freshman is a huge accomplishment. My wife checked the archives and could not find a freshman on the past 4 All State teams. Both Josh and Devin had outstanding seasons for their respective HS teams, both are huge contributors to their club teams, and both are on the ODP 99 team. Kudos also to the voters for their willingness to recognize these deserving young men. Not taking anything away from these two as I have heard they are both great players but I believe Weston Acosta was all state as a freshman 4 years ago. Sorry for the oversight. I meant no disrespect to anyone. Was merely trying to point out that it was a rare accomplishment , which it is.

Weston Acosta was a 1st teamer as a Frosh. The others mentioned were not on the list. I believe that was the 1st year of the Freshman All State team. The others mentioned were most likely a member of that team.

This years seniors were the first class that had All Freshman Team as Freshmen... there were MANY kids that were All Freshmen that year that also were All State... Brock Hollier and Jacob Cunningham definitely were both as freshmen. Seth Ledet from EDW may have been also? For Division I, Dayton Prejean may have been both also, and we have to check on Rader Massey. He was definitely All Freshmen first team, but I can't remember if he was All State as a freshmen also. For the Record...Brock Hollier was 4 time All State, 2 time MVP... to go along with the All Freshman team. And you are absolutely correct and have good reason to be proud... it is a very, very rare and extremely HIGH HONOR to do this as a freshman!

My search only produced the DIII team and I failed to consider DII & DI. I feel I have created a little stir and that was not intended. Certainly hope no one was offended. Congrats to all who were chosen. Best of luck to all the Sr.'s and I look forward to reading about and watching as many of the rest as possible.

Just know the guys on this board, someone will always know the answer somewhere to every question! Or be there to correct someone. Long time guys like Bird is The Word and Squeek always know everything there is! On a personal note... Wish your boy could have played against Brock and our class if seniors this season. When that class was a bunch of touted freshmen like your boys class is, it was the last time that Westminster beat us and our boys got to play against that great talented squad of Timmy Redd and the bunch. They beat us twice that year (reg game and their tournament final, both by 1 goal) and once 2 years earlier for their only 3 wins vs BC since 2006. BC has 5 wins and 1 draw in the series. 2 rainouts in the last 3. I think only one game was won by more than 1 goal... The first game BC played at Westminster after the program restarted in 2006, which was a huge front page type of an upset, by the score of 2-0. That rivalry is really one of the best rivalries in the entire state. Always a close game no matter how much better one may be than the other in a given season. Always hard fought, and at times extremely physical. Much more physical than our top rivalry with Teurlings. I think it (the rivalry) is amplified the last couple of years with 3-4 BC feeder school players going to westminster instead to add spice to the rivalry. I'm sure we will have many good matches over the next three years! Good luck and congrats for the honor again! All Parish will be posted by Tuesday on the site...more honors in store?

I'm curious as to how many coaches joined the LHSCA, nominated an voted. Chad, can you post the number of coaches who voted in each division? (not names) just total number in Division I, Division II and Division III.

No one I love proving wrong more then you Mr. Coach Chad...
More than one game has been decided by more than 2 goals in the series. 2 of them happened while I was playing, in 2006-2007 Beau Chene won 2-0 at Westminster and in 2008-2009 Westminster won 3-1 at Beau Chene. The 3-1 game was the last game you had me play forward because it was the one game I didn't score while playing their, and because Tim Redd destroyed our defender you had playing in my original place.
But this series between these 2 schools is a great one. From experience, during the game you want to crush each other, but always after your laughing and joking around with each other
Games in the series I know scores for: 06-07 Beau Chene 2 @ Westminster 0 06-07 @ Beau Chene 1 Westminster 0 07-08 @ Beau Chene 1 Westminster 0 08-09 Beau Chene-1 Westminster-0 (Carencro Tournament) 08-09 Westminster 3 @ Beau Chene 1
09-10 Beau Chene 2 @ Westminster 1 10-11 Westminster-4 Beau Chene-3 (Winter Cup Final) 10-11 Westminster-2 @ Beau Chene-1 11-12 Cancelled due to District Make up for WCA 12-13 Beau Chene 0 @ Westminster 0 13-14 Rainout
Beau Chene-5 wins Westminster- 3 wins Draws- 1

Participation was way down this year as was membership numbers. But for numbers wise... From memory I think it was as follows... DI- 17 DII- 16 DIII- 16 Thanks!

someone please explain to me how does Cole Garda (defender,Newman)does not make 1st or 2nd team all-state in division III??? Thank you. My thought exactly. He's one of the premier defenders in the division for sure Congratulations to all that were selected - I too find it hard to see that Cole was not selected for all state. One of the best defenders i've seen play

The number of coaches involved in the process likely skews the reality. After the top 3 first teamers, there likely isn't a huge difference in player quality.

I'm pretty sure Hell just froze over, not one but two players were picked from north LA for D1 All-State. I will tell my grandkids of this day... Hell has frozen over before. Here's the recent history if you're interested. 2013 - none 2012 - Ryan Barcelona (Parkway) 1st team 2011 - Connor Randel (Shreve) and Chris Lawrence (Shreve) 2010 - Connor Randel, Will Monsour (Shreve) 1st team; Alex Blandin (Caddo) and Logan Calhoun (Shreve) 2nd team Additionally, the previous two years saw both All-State MVPs from North LA, the most recent of which was Connor's older brother Brennan, as well as numerous all-state selections both years. Certainly not trying to take anything away from Andrew or Chad, as they are both phenomenal players and very deserving of All-State, but don't slight North LA too much.

Agree, but I think most of the players you cited were from semi-finalist teams their respective years.
Shreve lost in the quarterfinals and still had two players make 2nd team. To me, that's the most interesting part of the puzzle.

Fair point. All the more impressive I suppose. But- just to give you a hard time- I've seen teams from up here that have been knocked out in the first round land All-State players. Like I said though, Andrew and Chad were more than deserving of the recognition, and they probably would have been 1st team if Shreve had advanced further.
