Lots of questions here that need to be answered. Better start now than wait for start of season. If needed, I'll be available to help coordinate some functions as I no longer am coaching.
1. Are schedules and results going to be posted on this site this year? If so, when? how? who? in what format? What information is required (I highly recommend location, time and home team...see comment after "3" below)?
Comment: In years past it has required a major effort to extract schedules from certain schools ... even those with well established programs. I"ve spent many an hour on school's web sites cataloging schedules.
2. Are individual statistics going to be kept this year now that the chief stat-keeper has moved?
3. Is there a requirement for game results to be forwarded to the LHSAA this year?
(I suggest that a simple LHSAA form be created that has blanks for teams, location, date, referree names, association, score result. Two copies of this form should be signed by both coaches after the game is over, and one copy should be either forwarded to LHSAA or better, kept by each team in case of a challange.)
4. If so, who forwards the result of a game; what data (re: score, date, time, location, refs, are there drop-down boxes for schools); what to do about school abreviations such as StM (St.Martins, St Thomas More, St. Michaels, etc.); when are scores forwarded; to whom; how (on-line, phone, etc.); and will results be posted; where; when will they be posted (important to allow challange); etc.
5. What if a game-result forwarded to the LHSAA is incorrect? Can it be challanged? How?
6. Who at LHSAA will keep track of cancled games, changed dates of games, etc.?
7. Finally, different subject. Are the red-card reporting and consequences rules still operative? Has the process been further defined and are there still two classes of red cards?
Two years ago reporting red cards and resulting penalties were a big deal. Last year no one mentioned it much and I don't think many paid much attention to the requirements. No one ever confirmed how the referrees reported red cards, to whom, or whether anyone at LHSAA was monitoring, etc. Some schools seemed to know how to differentiate between unsportsmanlike reds and other types of red cards that are apparently not forwarded by the officials, while other schools treated all reds the same.
8. We have discussed posting rosters with numbers, names, class etc. before. I guess I can understand some relutance to post pictures, but rosters with numbers linked to team schedule would really help commentary and get recognition to those players who deserve it. Saying "No. 10 for Crawfish Catholic played a great game" is lame.
Thanks. I know the above questions are numerous and detailed. But everyone needs to be on the same page and it isn't too early to start answering these questions. As answers come in I suggest they be simplified and posted in a sticky. Regards to all
