With the new rule that all games count as a tie on a teams official record, I was curious what other districts are doing to to determine district winners. Div I Dist II voted to still play OT and a shoot out for games ending in a tie followed by tie breaker rules. Personally, I would prefer a point system or maybe an aggregate score system. What are other districts doing?

It is absolutely pointless for any district to hav a tiebreaker for first place now that LHsAA rules state that all teams tie for first will be co champions and all will receive the automatic playoff spot. It's rule 18.5.4
18.5.4 Criteria for Wildcard Selection: 1. Only the teams certified as first a place district representatives shall automatically qualify for the state play- offs. If a district championship is tied, all tied teams shall share the championship honors and shall qualify for the state playoffs from that district. 2. The remainder of the byes on the bracket shall be filled with wildcard teams, teams that did not automatically qualify, by placing them on the bracket starting with the highest power ranking and continuing in descending order.
So as you can see, there is NO REASON to have any such tiebreaker. Power ratings decide everything but the automatic spot and with this rule above, that spot will go to all teams tied for first in a district.
To answer your question, before the knowledge of this rule, we were doing aggregate head to head score for tiebreaker in standings and would have done a PK Shootout after second game if the two teams were tied in aggregate head to head scoring. We are also using the fifa point system for district standings, 3 PTS for a win and 1 pt for a draw.

Interesting, I did not realize that about co-champions. I'll relay this info to the rest of the district and see if we can do away with the tie breaker.

It's rule 18.5.4... ...there is NO REASON to have any such tiebreaker. So if there are any 2-team districts out there any more and they split home-away, BOTH qualify for playoffs regardless of strength of team? Only two-team district is III-2, which is actually listed as a three team district of Carroll, St. Fred, and OCS. Why Carroll is allowed to field a team by the LHSAA is problematical. They have dropped the sport many times in mid-season or failed to field a team, etc. They should probably have been disqualified by the LHSAA acording to the rules for two years ... long ago. The failure to commit to the sport by that school has inadvertently cost good teams playoff spots in the past. Re: Tie breakers for District - My take is different. Shared District championships are fine for qualification for playoffs. And no tie-breaks for District may be OK for the elite teams. However, most teams in D-III do not reasonably expect to compete for State. Winning a District is still a big deal and a goal for these teams. Sharing a District championship, ignoring long established tie-break world-wide procedure is overlooking those teams and their goals in favor of the few teams that can realistically compete for State. I think that if a District wants to adopt a method for the purpose of crowning a District-Champion, well and good for them.
