It'll be the first time in 5 years we're not involved. Feels strange and I know my son misses it a lot (though he has found time for lots of new activities along with college). Good luck to all of the teams out there as ya'll start practicing. And for all seniors and parents of seniors - enjoy these days. Sooner than you think that last whistle will blow. You'll look back on these games and even practices with fondness.

My daughter and I were talking about this. It's been four years since she started playing select soccer and that's gone by so fast. She will be playing high school for the first time this year. I know the time will go by fast.
Interestingly she feels time speeding up, I wasn't aware of that at her age.
Good luck to your son in all his endeavors.

I have a senior this year. It has flown by. I just hope he makes the most of his moments, because he will cherish them and his teammates forever. Here's to a healthy season for all players, coaches, and referees. Also, a hope that parents will remain civil in the stands and remember that these are just kids playing a game. Enjoy watching them and let the mistakes that the players, coaches, and referees make just enhance the experience. Enjoy the imperfection so to speak!

I think at some level, when they are seniors, they all realize the number of games are limited and they do enjoy them and make the most of them. That's been my experience with the seniors each year anyway. But no matter how prepared, they don't want to leave the field after that last game. The best way I've seen it summarized is the Sean Payton speech at the very beginning of the video to Kenny Chesney's "Boy's of Fall". Even though that song is technically about the other football, the words fit really well for the seniors in high school soccer too.

Good to see you still around here! You have no idea we will miss your ENTIRE family this year...Bulldog Soccer is what it is today due in large part to the contributions of your crew.
Hope to see you all in the stands quite a bit this year! (And how about one last plea to hire you for stats, media, etc?!)

Good luck to everyone especially the seniors. I'm a soccer alum mom two years removed and here's my advice to you is, play with your heart and not just your feet! Please remember to enjoy every minute of this year...win or lose because you can't get it back. Every single time you step out onto the pitch soak it all in but leave everything you have out there. Finally, thanks for loving this game!!

Thanks for the kind words Coach Zack. We definitely plan to catch some of the games this year. But as spectators (looking forward to that role). There is a great group of parents, players and coaches there that I know will keep the program going forward.
