I can't wait for the SSA-Ben Franklin game. Franklin finally has all its core juniors and seniors healthy going into the year right?

Loyola is in D2, losing only 2 seniors, does that change the prdictions?

Loyola was in DII last year...fell to St Thomas More 3-1 in the Semi-finals...but yes Loyola should be strong especially with returning forward Bailey Freeman just one of many...No matter what Division they're in they're always in the State Championship mix

my top ten 1) Ben Franklin...hands down #1..undefeated in state 2 years and running...getting back their best athlete on their team in Cadie Higginson and outstanding defender Amalia Skalos both were out due to injury last year...first game of season against SSA at SSA....should get real interesting real quick! 2) St Thomas More...coming in with chip on their shoulders...I think they were surprised that they lost in state finals last year, and with good reason...significantly out shot BF in the first half of that game and im still not sure how at least 2 goals didn't get put in during first half. 3) Vanderbilt...Lost to BF in semis 1-0...bringing back the bulk of their team I believe and from what I saw last year, they could very well be a wrecking crew 4) Loyola...as said previously in this post, only lost two seniors...very good forward in Bailey Freeman and many more coming back, may be their year. 5)Teurlings..not sure what they lost from last year but are always tough, they have a very solid goalie... 6) Lakeshore...cant quite put my finger on Lakeshore, they are always stacked with talent but just haven't been able to put it all together for a strong playoff run...but again with the talent you can never count them out...very speedy forward in Martha Santos 7) ED White...I saw them last year and they were by far the most Physical team I saw...very fast and very dangerous, they'll be looking to make it past the quarters this year.. 8) Ursuline...coach Winston always has this team ready to play and he gets the very most out of all his players 9) Neville...they'll probably get a bye in the playoffs and I probably should have them a little higher, however I think whenever they come south of 10 to play they have trouble...Im sure just cause I said that they'll prove me wrong. 10)Lutcher..very good and fast athletes should be very competitive

Get a group of regulars on the forum to create their own top ten. Sometimes you have to initiate the change to make it happen. It wasn't that long ago that the LHSSCA did not regularly release a boys ranking either. We'd get an end of season ranking if we were lucky. But now look at it. Competition is the answer, and if you can regularly release an accurate ranking, chances are the LHSSCA will get back in the game on the girls side. Always great to have differing views.

Good early test for some quality teams at Loyola's tournament nov 20-22. Loyola, Byrd, St. Joseph's, Lakeshore, PJP II, West Monroe, Neville, Parkway, Caddo Magnet in attendance. Looks like the switch to power rankings has affected the way people are scheduling this year. Better to lose to 20 win teams than beat a 2 win team!
I agree with soccer dad's assessment of D2. Should be very competitive in the top 10.
Good luck to everyone

When Franklin is healthy they have the best "spine" of any team by far...2 solid CBs, 2 Central MF, and The Striker. The questions around Franklin will be who else will contribute. Outside backs and wings are questions, GK?
If Franklin is healthy they can play down the middle better than anyone...if they get any additional help wide and in goal, it's them alone and then everyone else regardless of Division classification.
The Franklin vs SSA game is on the top of my list for early season matchups....

IIRC PJP II was a fairly young team last year so they would be the early favorites in D III.

I am new to the girls side. A lot less chatter than the boys for sure. Where is the coaches poll? Why did that stop. This may bring some more chatter and awareness.

we a little slow over here on the girls side and not as rowdy! they pull no punches on the boys side(no pun intended Lusher) girls side you get too controversial you'll likely have your post deleted :-) but it'll start to pick up as the season gets going...but you right it is a little slower and more quiet than I remember

DI predictions?? Anyone taking a guesstimate there?!

Would it be going too far out on a limb to predict a DI rematch in the finals?
After that I think most of the usual suspects will still be very strong. A number of last year's top 8 seeds have lost some key starters, but they have more than enough depth to stay near the top. It'll be interesting to see if any teams that might be ranked in the 9-15 range in a coaches' poll during the season have their schedules put together well to get a good power rating, a top 8 seed, and maybe make a quarterfinal run. I wouldn't be shocked if we see two big-name powers meeting in the 2nd round in a 7-10 or 6-11 matchup. I wonder who will be rounding out the top 10. Baton Rouge? Northshore? Acadiana? I also expect Denham Springs to be much improved. They already have a win over Dutchtown and play a bunch of other solid DI teams (EA, Northshore, Acadiana).
Looks like we've got quite a few good matchups early in the season, in all divisions. SJA and Lakeshore both traveling up north. The SSA-BF game, of course. And a handful of others. I'm a little hesitant to assign too much weight to early-season matchups; I'm sure Monday's and Tuesday's games had a number of players missing with the state cross country meet. But the power rating computer won't care when you played and what players you were missing, just what the result was.
Also, Lakeshore deserves a lot of credit for getting a draw against Dominican and a win over Byrd. Two very good results against top-notch DI competition.

Would it be going too far out on a limb to predict a DI rematch in the finals? I think you are going too far out on a limb to predict a DI rematch. It seems to be a rebuilding year for Lafayette High. However, coach Katie has a way of getting the most out of her players, so I expect them to pull some upsets as the season progresses.

When will the computer ranking start? And where can they be seen?

When will the computer ranking start? And where can they be seen? I don't know when they will start, but I am guessing that they will be on the LHSAA site similar to other sports. I do want to point out that with power rating calculations, you need to be careful because they will change a lot early in the season. It will probably be late December or early January until they start to settle into something more meaningful.
