I think Rummel will surprise some people this year. They have a quality and very experienced keeper. Also in my opinion the best striker in the state. Just need the coach to really play to this teams strentgh. Definitely will be a sleeper in my books. Ranked 23rd... let's see how they finish.

Probably an oversight. They could definitely win the title this year. Don't see how. St. Paul's will be the team to beat.

St. Paul's is definitely the team to beat this year, but Catholic will be very strong again as well. They really underachieved in the playoffs last year, and will be hungry this year.
They started quite a few freshmen and sophomores last year and didn't lose too many seniors. I think 6 is a reasonable ranking for them to start with, but I would expect them to hover around the top 5 all season and maybe even challenge for the title if a few things break their way. Don't forget they were a top 3 team pretty much the entire season last year before kind of petering out at the end.
I agree St. Paul's are strong favorites to repeat this year, but I expect Jesuit to give them a strong challenge, along with any combination of Brother Martin, Catholic, Acadiana, and Lafayette.

St Pauls is defending state champion and lost very few players. They will be far superior to any other team. As far as Jesuit goes, the lost 16 seniors. Yes thats right, 16! They will have a massive drop off. And the #3 team, Brother Martin lost 12 seniors. ANd at both schools, the majority of those seniors are club players so I think they will feel it this year for sure. Which brings me back to St Pauls being in the drivers seats.

You make a great point.
However, while I agree that St. Paul's is the favorite, it shouldn't always be assumed that losing seniors necessarily hurts a team. Being a senior doesn't always mean one is a better player.
I know that St. Paul's has a very strong group of juniors...as well as some seniors that are solid players.

I had no idea Jesuit and Brother Martin lost that many seniors. That makes St. Paul's even bigger favorites to repeat this year and maybe even next year.
That means Catholic, Acadiana, and Lafayette are the only other obvious threats to them and St. Paul soundly beat Catholic just the other day... I wouldn't be shocked if St. Paul's has a perfect season this year. We'll see how they can handle the pressure of all this expectation.

I believe Catholic also lost their first-team All-Freshman player from last year who moved to North Carolina. That will be a big loss for them as well.

Do y'all realize how many soccer players Brother Martin and Jesuit have? Losing 12-16 seniors is nothing. There are that many club players in each grade at those schools.

I actually think Jesuit will be a better squad this year than last. As VISTA mentioned it's reload not rebuild at some of these schools. And in some instances you have Jrs and Sophs sitting who are better than some of the Seniors....on the other hand, Brother Martin lost a lot of talent and I'm not sure who replaces those players.

I agree with what you are saying, not just about Jesuit, but in general. I always like to look at the junior class... It's the year that most boys turn to men over the summer and many club players step up to take the place of those who just graduated or to help those seniors. It's happens every year... A team was supposed to be rebuilding and they reload and are sometimes even better cause the experience learned from the good graduating class carries on to them plus their competitiveness to win the starting jobs.... It's going on at a lot of schools right now that may be being "overlooked" or "counted out"

I think Captain Shreve fits the "reloaded" analogy.
Shreve lost 7 senior starters from last year. (A keeper, entire backline and two midfielders.) However, the players coming in to replace the graduated players are mostly experienced club players. Too early to tell what the team's quality is or will be yet.
That said, I think the team will have another successful season.

With the exception of Cam Robinson the core of the SPS team returns along with a senior who transferred from Fontainblue last year. I heard the transfer scored 3 goals in the scrimmage v catholic.

I wonder where IrishFro is? Grace King, last year's runner-up and this year has beaten Brother Martin 3-0 and lost 0-1 to consensus #1 St. Paul's, yet was a preseason #7.
