And that St Paul's game almost tied up at the end. The Irish are planning on staying around for awhile.

Also in my opinion the best striker in the state. Just need the coach to really play to this teams strentgh. Definitely will be a sleeper in my books. Ranked 23rd... let's see how they finish. Agree with this, your boy #7 (Carlos?) is a talented kid.

And that St Paul's game almost tied up at the end. The Irish are planning on staying around for awhile. St Paul's looked impresive. Grace king looked very promising. Starting 4 freshman 3 sophomores and 4 juniors, and still competed vs St Paul's in a very good game. I think they only lost 3 seniors from last year team, and with new comers, they should have a pretty strong team this year.

Looking at it from the outside, it looks like Denham Springs may be in line for some votes in D-I. They beat St. Mikes and Parkview Baptist both handily so far this year. Both those are quality teams with soccer pedigrees. And did the same to us (Lutcher) last year.
I guess their first round playoff loss to Alexandria last year may be hurting them and early games with football and swimming going on can be kind of unreliable indicators. But I think they may be a team that ends up making some noise this year.

So far Mandeville and Leesville are the two teams I'm hearing rumblings about. So i'm interested to see how they do in the coming weeks.

But I think they may be a team that ends up making some noise this year. Agree completely. To be fair, we were missing several key starters and we're not a very deep team at all this year, so I think the rematch between St. Michael and Denham Springs in January at Burbank when both teams will be at full force will be very competitive, at least much more than Tuesday night.
But that shouldn't take away anything from Denham's performance so far this week. They completely dominated the game against us from start to finish. They are absolutely one of the best teams in the BR area this year, and almost no one talks about them. They deserve some votes, for sure.
I think they will surprise lots of people this season. They have some very talented players from various BRSC Black teams, and lost few key players from last year. They are very well-coached, and #7 has to be one of the fastest players in the state. I said that last year, and I still stand by it. They should win their district running away this season, and can easily make it to 20 wins if they continue to play their best soccer.

Agreed on Denham Springs. Form preseason scrimmage, their defense is big, strong, and aggressive and should keep them in most games this season. At the same time they have speedy forwards, who make well timed runs and transition quickly to defense with turnovers. They can play through the midfield or more directly, as the game dictates. This versatility should lend itself to a couple wins at least. They should snatch their district crown and show well in playoffs.

Correction to the Menard vs Catholic NI game. They tied 2-2 not 0-0

Another thumbs up to the Denham Springs program. Disciplined & well-coached + talent = noise to be made in 2014. Their young keeper is one to watch for sure. Great natural ability, and even better attitude. Has been a pleasure to coach him in club ball along with several of their JV players. Know several of the younger boys well & this program has a bright future. Looking forward to seeing them progress over the next few years.
Sorry coach...can't let you fly under the radar any more!

Denham Springs' athleticism going to be difficult for most to cope with and adjust to during the 2014 campaign.

From the banter I've seen, the DII state championship will be between Beau Chene and Leesville. BC looks off to a fine start. Leesville definitely not getting enough love yet from the pollsters (it will come). Ben Franklin has a ton of returning, skillful players from last year's championship team. Bolton has zero players returning to the same position but pleasantly surprised me the first weekend out. Lakeshore has athleticism and skill to compete (and a huge turf field to boot). That's all I've seen thus far this year.

Haven't seen Leesville or Ben Franklin but from results they definitely belong up there as well.

Agree. D-II was wide open last season, but it might be even more wide open this season. Early season results, whether positive or negative, can often be deceptive, so it'll be exciting to see who holds up or if any wild cards enter the mix at the end and surprise everyone like Ben Franklin did last season.
Now that most teams have just about everyone back, we can begin to see their true quality. Copa should be a really fun tournament this year.
