Coaches, This year we will be encouraging all to join Max Preps and use their very user friendly website to help keep record of this years standings, stats, rosters, etc.... I will post more later tonight and will have Alisa Dancer from Max Preps come on here and display instructions and answer any questions. www.maxpreps.comThis is not just for coaches. Team managers, parents, statisticians, etc... can also join. The more participation the better organized we will be.

Hey Jonathan, We don't have any stat partners that import stats directly into MaxPreps but these ones have create a file that can be exported, saved to the desktop and uploaded into MaxPreps. www.maxpreps.com/utility/stat_import/partners.aspx?id=a0378a66-26ff-4743-884e-a0048cbc8554Something new we just came out with is our MPCoach android app. Coaches can edit/add rosters, schedules and scores from their phone. We've had it for IOS for about 2 months. I've included a MPCoach icon if you wanted to use it. Android play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.maxpreps.maxpreps&hl=en IOS itunes.apple.com/us/app/maxpreps/id889070230?mt=8 Here's a link to our support site. support.maxpreps.com/hc/en-us We're also partnered with the NSCAA to select a state Player of the Week. As long as the coach enter stats for that week they're eligible. www.maxpreps.com/news/woWMN8-lXEW0lCwD_UHeBQ/maxpreps-and-nscaa-to-select-high-school-player-of-the-week.htmLet me know if you need anything else. Please send schedules to schedules@maxpreps.com. I've forwarded all that have been sent to me. Hopefully you'll see these posted up for your teams in the next couple days.

I've also sent the Walker Kick Off Classic Girls' Schedule to MaxPreps. Should be populated in a few days.

I spent a little time entering Woodlawn HS Boys and Girls schedules last night. MaxPreps has a nice site that is pretty user friendly. Scores, stats, rosters, etc. can all be entered as well. I'd urge you to all go and enter schedules at a minimum. Coaches can give admin access to an individual to update schedules, scores, etc. I'll continue to forward schedules that I receive to MaxPreps for them to enter, but if you have someone willing at your school, it'll get done much quicker once an admin account is set up. Check out Woodlawn's schedule www.maxpreps.com/high-schools/woodlawn-panthers-(baton-rouge,la)/soccer-winter/schedule.htm to see what it'll look like. For district play there is a nice pull down to choose opponents. Otherwise the search function works well. FYI- Grace King is listed as King for those of you playing them.

I am assuming based on your message that someone at the school has to set up the admin account correct?

I am assuming based on your message that someone at the school has to set up the admin account correct? No, just tell them your a parent/contributor and they'll give you access to updating schedules and scores and such.

That's not how it worked for me. They required an administrator (coach or AD) to approve my admin rights. They send you a code and then you're off to the races.

It is a very nice site, but the results are only as good as the data entered. Let's hope that representatives from each team will find out about this site and decide to utilize it.

So is MaxPreps going to take the place of this website? Or are stats and scores still going to be displayed on LaPrep?

Just my opinion but Max Preps seems to be a step in the wrong direction. The spreadsheet was much easier to compare teams.

Concur with uhscubs1. This seems to be a poor decision. There is a marked drop in entries on this site for scores, etc. The schedules and stats were the attracting focus for this site, e.g., it was all about girls soccer. At the same time, there is nothing being entered on MaxPrep. So a void of data/information has been created to the detriment of girls soccer. It may be fixable, but from one viewer's perspective, interest in this site is slowly dying.

Appreciate each of your opinions and understand your concerns.
But reality is. It takes a lot of work to maintain what we have over the last few years, and with the one person who overlooked all of it now gone, we are trying to find an easier solution.
Are y'all offering to volunteer?

Relooking, I didn't express my point very clearly. The reason I think it wasn't a good decision is that it was sudden and didn't properly prepare everyone to make a quick jump. In addition, MaxPrep doesn't have a personal interest, e.g., someone who is monitoring and mothering the transition to a solid product. That existed on this site last year. This site was the one site shop for girls HS soccer. I also believe it will relegate this site to a secondary position as the stats/results will be on the other site. I think that will be the real drawing power.
As for volunteering, I don't know whether I have the skills to fill the shoes for the tasks involved, but I'm open to finding out.

Huge disappointment with not being able to see scores/statistics. I appreciate all the effort that it's taken in the past and truly loved this site last year, especially with the addition of the individual statistics. Girls soccer always getting the short end of the stick, and that's a shame.

"Are y'all offering to volunteer?"
You have two positive responses to your question. Any reply?

"Are y'all offering to volunteer?" You have two positive responses to your question. Any reply? My reply is: have at it. We'll work on getting the spreadsheet available this week. Who are my volunteers? PM me saying so. For the record, I do think a separate system is redundant. It worked for years with me at point and lojic & flat3 before me. But with the amount of energy required, and now having alternatives available, I agree with the LHSAA/MaxPreps direction. Each year we improved, but I (and others) poured hours into the data to get the format we've been using. That said, I do see several of you are willing to volunteer. Here's the "job description" list in the order it needs to be done (from a building block perspective) in order to make it happen. That way you can know what you're signing up for. Just so we're clear, please specify to lojic which piece(s) you are offering to maintain. They're all ultimately connected, but can be done in portions (as long as it's the right order). Cheerleading schools to participate is a role that isn't listed. They're now required to participate at LHSAA so you may be able to simply grab info from there & re-enter into this tool. Here's the list in order (feel free to ask for any clarification): * Schedules & Scores - this requires entering game data from here as it's entered or by harvesting data from either LHSAA or Max Preps site - this is the nuts & bolts & relies on all results being entered to work - in the past, this is the easy part to enter, but often the hard part to track down * Standings - this is relatively easy once the schedules & scores are done - the time would be in getting it setup for any district/division changes since last year - you would need some formula competency to make sure changes flow through the entire system - but once you have it set up, it's little work throughout year * Power Ratings - builds off of scores & results - run a macro to summarize some of data - lots of formula knowledge necessary to debug the system when anything seems out of whack - not a lot of day-to-day, but Excel nerd in this role is helpful * Player Stats - getting participation from schools here is critical (oftentimes several of the top D1 schools don't participate) - you roll with whatever is entered. You can choose to have people enter it in a thread & you re-enter it (like 2 years ago & earlier) OR you can roll with GoogleDocs and ask people to enter there & transfer over to the main spreadsheet. Audits are critical here. 90% of them are tied to scores, but the rest of it applies human intervention. Lots of work in this step (unless you create a better way to do that).
