5 Catholic New Iberia 2 vs 5 Menard 2
Only fitting that they both tied because in the coaches poll these two teams are tied in points. Every season for the past 4 years this has been the first game of the season with the away team coming out victors in the first 3 outings. So why stop now. You can categorize the game as Pace vs Finesse. No where close to a Barca vs Real Madrid but similar comparisons. Catholic NI in the first half possessed the ball really well. Forced Menards keeper into two or 3 good saves and looked dangerous off the set piece. Which events they scored off a corner. As the half changed both sides made tactical adjustments and now it was Menards turn to put pressure. Chasing the game the game opened up and NI scored another off a great counter. And the away team looked as if they would take the game again. This time NI goal keeper was forced into a couple good saves. Eventually the pressure paid off for Menard as their forward was fouls inside the box. For a penalty. To make it 2-1. Then with 2 minutes left a long throw resulted in another pk. NI goal keeper felt impeded by a Menard player so out of frustration pushed the player out of the way resulting in the final goal of the match. 2 goals inside the last 10 minutes. Both team will improve a lot as the season goes on. At the moment two descent teams with a lot of potential. NI played with a lot of technique and flare while Menard relied on their pace. Should be interesting to see how the season plays out. In this post I tried to be as unbiased as possible.
