Brief write up of this one:
Very exciting game from start to finish. Early on it was a back and forth game. Both teams utilizing more of a passing game and not much direct soccer. Both teams making some attacks near the opponent's goal early on. BC put more balls on goal in this phase but nothing super threatening from either.
Lutcher breaks through with a goal at about 33 minutes from a ball pin balling in the box. BC players arguing vehemently for interference with the goal keeper shortly before the shot that scored. And it could have been called that way. Refs saw it differently though and I think 2 BC players got yellows as a result of the ensuing discussions.
BC got an equalizer in the 44th minute or so which seemed like an almost mirror image of the Lutcher goal, again with what could have possibly been called interference with the GK prior to the shot. No major arguing after the goal on this one though that I could see.
BC got what would end up being the game winner at about 55 minutes (all the scoring seemed to come in minutes with double integers) when they exploited a momentary breakdown in the Lutcher defense and put the shot in the goal.
Game bounced back and forth after that. Lutcher had some nice attacks towards the end but could not equalize the score.
There seemed to be a lot of excitement bordering on controversy towards the end and after the game but I couldn't really see what it was all about. Few cards handed out but no reds I don't think. People on the side line can speak to this better than me. Seemed to be a good hard played game that got chippy towards the end like close games can tend to do. Refs seemed to keep the game under good control from what I could see. And cooler heads kept the teams from mingling after the game when things threatened to get heated.
Some good soccer. I enjoyed watching it.

I enjoyed watching it. You have the goals backward. first BC goal was a screamer from Juan Carlos after dribbling through 4 defenders and ripping a curling upper 90 from 20 out. the other keeper play bump on our end was a diagnol that beat keeper from lusher to ball and was a good no call, but in some games may have been called. the goal for lusher was definition of keeper foul... Keeper had both hands on ball, knee raised and in his 6... Speared in gut and drops ball... First shot deflected by defender, second shot goes in for the lead. Bad no call, but great hustle play on a quick free kick by lutcher. My player that got first yellow for arguing was much deserved and got his punishment from me. Second yellow was ridiculous as it was captain, calming everyone down and went to spea to ref pointing to his arm band. He was yellowed. Asked who,was allowed to speak to ref then, and was told get off field. I could go on and on about things but I will leave this one alone. Lutcher played their hearts out. The players deserve that. Lutcher keeper had 11 saves of the 13 shots on goal. Lutcher had 2 shots on goal, but did well at possessing at times... Both teams struggled in final third. This game could have been controlled better by officials and parents in stands. I think players did well and both coaches tried to do their best. It is what it is and we were happy to get with a win and without any incidents happening. Congrats to coach Zack and his boys. Like I said, they have heart and athleticism, and play with anyone and could, pull off an upset on any Div II team on any night. wish I had seen you methuselah, but I'm sure you saw we left in a hurry.

Good game coach. Well deserved win & both of us have some good material to work with to improve our squads going forward.
Thought we played very well at times but left a lot to be desired as far as finishing & creating better scoring opportunities. Missing one player tonight who would have helped in that area & I'm sure you guys are not quite "Full strength" either.
Juan Carlos is definitely a force to be reckoned with. I was telling the boys before the game not to be intimidated & play confident..."There are no Messis or Ronaldos over there. Just play smart & attack their mistakes". At halftime, one defender says "hey coach, they do have a Messi over there"
Think we showed we are capable of playing with anyone in D2 like you said & looking forward to more challenges at Copa!

Hmm. I could have sworn the bumping was the first BC goal and the clean shot off of a failed clearing the 2nd. Then again, when you're old enough to go by Methuselah like me, the memory ain't what it used to be. And yeah. I've seen no calls like that first one where there was contact with your keeper go against teams I'm rooting for and they are difficult to accept. But they tend to even out over the course of the season I think. I was impressed by the Bulldogs. They graduated only 4 seniors last year but those 4 were the top scorers on the team for pretty much the last 4 years (since the team was formed). It was good to see that there were kids who were just waiting their turn and who have stepped right up. (Also, I think one of these new top play-makers was out tonight with bronchitis - after playing and scoring in the only two games following football season) so they still have some room to grow) One thing I did learn tonight - in some ways it may be even more enjoyable watching a game after my child graduated. Takes a bit of the edge off but still exciting to watch.

Glad you were able to make it to this one Methuselah! Don't be a stranger this year!
I have been pleasantly surprised considering our full squad really has not trained together yet at all this season. The ones who have been here prior to the end of football/swimming have worked very hard & they have been pushing each other well.
Much to improve but the season is still young & I do like where we are starting from here in year 5.

Gotta say, that even though Lutcher played their hearts out and left it on field, they didn't cause any danger except on set pieces. And the one goal is a foul in 99/100 games period! Horrible no call and lucky keeper didn't get hurt or broken ribs. Hope our video has a good shot so we can get someone to post on Internet somehwere. I haven't seen my boys play all, year but this was the first and I was told they looked off tonight, maybe from Lutcher, but mostly from bumps and bruises from the division I gauntlet they ran over the weekend with 5 grueling games. Also had starting defender out with sickness. I'm not gonna touch the issues with the crowd and post game stuff out of respect for both coaches and teams. But it was not a pretty site from some adults. Very sick words and mean spirited and racist stuff said. This game has no room for that and it took away from the way Lutcher played great against the top ranked team in their division. I think Lut her will be a huge boost to BC power ratings cause they will win a bunch of games. Keeper had a few great saves off of Juan and a free kick or two. Good hard fought game that would have been better played in front of student body instead of mean spirited parents. I had never been to out hers stadium either even though I'm in Baton Rouge area, it's quite a beautiful thing! Good luck to both teams.

I certainly didn't see or hear any "racist stuff" and I was pretty close to dead center in the small crowd of probably less than 50 people. Nor have I heard any either publicly or privately from being around this group of parents for going on 5 years now. Not to say it couldn't have happened but it would seem very very out of character to me. Nor did I hear any particularly mean spirited stuff unless you count give and take among fans like: BC Fan: "Hey ref, you want to borrow my glasses"; Lutcher Fan: "Might as well, they don't seem to be doing you much good". (Hey, I thought it was funny at the time till a well timed look from my wife set me straight). I much rather games where the visiting team shares some jambalaya or pastalaya or hot sausage po-boys after the game. But admittedly, a late cold Tuesday night may not be the best time for that kind of thing. It was some fun soccer to watch though.
