I received word from a BC parent that it was a leg injury. The player jumped and came down badly. Unclear as to exactly what the leg injury was at this point.

Thanks to all for the prayers... The young man needs them all as does his family... Both his real family and his extended soccer family! I have 29 other players here in mourning right now. This just isn't right, but God doesn't give us anything we can't handle! Lucius was setting himself up for his breakout season after playing wing due to being behind Brock Hollier and Trent Webb on depth chart for last two seasons. He worked his butt off and didn't deserve this! I wish I could trade spots with him right now! It's a cruel world sometimes and I pray that he comes back stronger than ever for his senior year. He will have surgery in morning and will Include a rod and possibly a plate. Please pray for him and his teammates as we now travel to Metairie tomorrow to take on another great team in Newman.
To the Northlake players and coaches and parents... Absolute, 100% class! They are by far the best team I have seen on the field since last years St Pauls team and their coach and his class rubs off on his great players. What a wonderful program and great bunch of kids! Thanks for your well, thoughts and prayers and your salute of Lucius after the game as he was loaded up on the ambulance! I wish you great fortune in all your endeavors and contests this year cause you all deserve it! Class program! Thanks for the help tonight!

Sometimes we don't understand but everything happens for a reason. One day that kid will find out the reason. Stay encouraging him.

Northlake prayers are with Lucius, such a sad event. He is a tremendous player and these things are so hard to deal with. Lucius and his family will be with our prayers all season long! Good Luck today and God Bless!

Last year one of our Boys had a rod in his leg but it was his senior year. This was very hard for him as well as us. He needed our support as much as the team needed him. He was able to come to pretty much all practices and games. The bond these kids have for each other does wonders for the soul and heart when boys experience such a serious injury. Soccer you can say what you want but when it comes down to it is closer to family than anything else I have experienced. Good luck to you Lucius. You have our full support and prayers

Surgery went well. He had a rod put in and should be in a boot in two weeks. No cast needed. Thanks to the Northlake team and parents for the great sportsmanship, prayers, and support.
