Not that I am pulling against them, but I think Ben Franklin's incredible 2+ year undefeated streak will come to an end tonight.

You may be right... SSA looked REALLY good last time we played!

Wider and longer field on fake grass for this match will bring additional elements into the game. I'm not sure who it favors, but I think this match will look different than the last. Quicker counter attacks and wider angles will mean more focus on wing attackers and outside defenders. The quicker surface will also put more pressure on the GKs.

It's Franklin's game to win or loose. Strengths to strenghts, weakness to weaknes and strengths to weakness Franklin drives their destination.

I posted before "Part 1" that SSA vs BF was the most interesting game on the horizon in girls high school soccer. They then tied 3-3, have both gone on to start the polls ranked #1 in the state, and now face off again for bragging rights of who is likely the best team in ANY division (for the time being). So this one might be even bigger and more interesting than the first. It was interesting to go back and watch the video from the first game (thanks soccer dad!). Quick recap based on the video and thread comments, SSA scores two early goals to stun BF, BF comes back and equalizes before half, takes the lead in the second half 3-2 and looks to have completed a comeback victory before SSA ties it up 3-3. Seemed like a great game. The offensive firepower by the two teams is clear in the video, which a couple people who went to the game also commented. Both teams have a fantastic striker at the tip of the sword, while BF probably has one or two more major weapons right behind her in midfield, but maybe SSA is slightly more stable and deep as a whole, including goalkeeper. SSA's tying goal for 3-3 was preventable to say the least for the BF goalkeeper, and if you watch soccerdad's videos, BF gave up some sloppy goals in both the SSA and Lakeshore games. That's worrying for them, but if they outscore everyone they play on the back of their star players, is it really a big problem? Against a team as deep and talented as SSA, with club players probably in every position, it might finally bite them. At the same time, BF's offensive threat is probably unmatched by anyone. If today is truly on a wider field that stretches the game away from the feet of BF's best players, maybe edge to a deeper SSA team? Hard to say, my only prediction is there's almost no chance of a shutout either way! Either team could win this game and it would not be a surprise. Good luck to both. Please someone post live updates! Very good analysis. If BF is completely healthy it is hard to bet against them. SSA's biggest advantage is probably what you mentioned as having club players in every position and as backups. My daughter has played ODP with the Franklin girls and they are nothing short of amazing. They can play with anybody in the country and if they can get solid (does not have to be great in my opinion) defense behind them they will be hard to beat. Alex's speed is hard to defend. Having said all that, probably a tie again, like 2-2. Guessing they learned lot about each other from the first meeting.

For some reason I think people believe SSA has a small field. Perhaps it's the closeness of the fans and a fence enclosing the space. Our field is 120x60. Wider than most high school fields, less of a crown, and just as long. Pan Am is 120x63 but will certainly play faster. Looking forward to the game tonight and certainly enjoyed the highlight film soccerdad23 put together after our last match.

I didn't mean to convey that SSA has a narrow field, I just wanted to make the point that Pan Am is wider...9ft wider over 120 yards is a lot more space to play in. SSA's field is a fantastic surface as LA high school fields go.

Also, keep in mind that Pan Am is narrower than last year. It was probably 70+ last year. I'm assuming the 63 yards figure mentioned in this thread is correct. So I don't think the field conditions will make a huge difference--the Pan Am turf may make things a little faster, but SSA's field is very nice and not much narrower.
I didn't get to attend the first match, but I'm predicting another tie and am really looking forward to watching this match tonight and bringing the play by play updates here.

BF commits a foul at midfield. SSA 2 gets the pass, tries to find space outside the box, looks for the left winger near the end line, BF regains possession and counters. Long ball ahead collected by SSA keeper.

BF with a long speculative cross from the right, SSA defender deflects it out for a corner. Initial attempt cleared, sent in again, 6 gets a shot off but it's blocked.
BF regains possession, Thomas beats a couple defenders and gets off a good shot, but the keeper saves at the near post.

A little bit of shoulder-to-shoulder and BF whistled for a foul just outside the box. 2 shoots, bends it on target but saved.
