St. Joseph's - 2 @ Baton Rouge HS - 1
0-0 at half
SJA scored on a angled shot from left side by A. Viso on a ball feed to her by S. Town at the 56' mark BRHS scored on a nice individual play by Presedo switching it to her left foot and hitting it high and wide from just outside the 18 at the 66' mark SJA then scored as a corner bounced across the box and K. Achord punched it in just inside of the back post at the 68' mark. Very well played and clean game. Most of it play was in the mid field as both team had difficulty penetrating the others back line.

Sja clinches district tonight with a win over EA. Last time these teams played was 2-1 sja coming back from 1-0 halftime deficit and scoring the winning goal as the clock struck zero. If EA can pull off the upset, it could be winner take all thursday for the district title for Baton Rouge and SJA.

Great young lady. Coached her in basketball from grades 1-7, my daughter played with her for Runnels in grade 8 now coached against her a for grades 10-12. Two of our 8 district losses in the last three years were to her team. Hard working, teammates love her. I would build any team around Molly.
Maybe our daughters will play together in college? I know they've been talking to the same school ... but I'll never tell.

Another great matchup between two evenly talented teams. After a well played 0-0 draw in the first half SJA goes up1-0 5 minutes into second on a beautiful counter that started 75 yards from goal, Town to Honore. brhs scores in the 58th on a great ball from Presedo to senior Maddie Bourgeois. BRHS had a few chances that were for nought. Sonnier stopped a breakaway that could have clinched it. Another cross from Scalzo went untouched through the box. stickers sailed a few good chances over the goal and it ended 1-1.
What a fantastic effort from both sides. Both teams should have a great playoff run v

Well it looks like District 5 got some pretty exciting seeds if these power rankings hold up. 5,12,15,16,30-32(see below). Another SJA/BRHS matchup could be lurking in round 2. Likely only 1 team in the quarters. Parkway put up a heck of a fight at BRHS in round 1 in 2013. 2-1 I think. That was a 9/24 matchup and it ended 2-1, I think. Looks like they will be facing each other in round 1. SJA - Alexandria BRHS - Parkway Dutchtown - Terrebone EA - Lafayette (That should be interesting with all the talk from Laffy fans about sneaking up on people) And with one auto qualifier out of the top 32, where will they be seeded? i.e where will St. Amant end up? Could be anywhere from 30-32 How about West Monroe vs Natchitoches in round 2. One of those teams in the quarters! WM couldn't score a goal when they came down for the Mandeville tournament. And Natchitoches resume says best win is... Dominican is smiling HUGE!!

5 teams making the playoffs is great, and 4 of 5 hosting in the first Round is a real impressive feat! I hate that we have a possible matchup of district teams in the second round, but thats the way the cookie crumbles!

Ok so what is just a district thread now becomes a place where we get to talk about a round 2 matchup. These two teams have won the last three district (maybe more, SJA DAD?) titles. This season they played to 2-1 and 1-1 scores. I think both teams start 1 senior. I think there are 3 seniors on SJA and 1 on BR. Once the seasons are over for both teams, they will resume playing TOGETHER on their club teams. The 98's (7 total players, 3-0-0) and 99's (9 players, 3-1-0) sit on top of their RPL league standings. Playing at Burbank certainly makes this a home game for both teams. Both of these teams have girls with tons of skill, brains, and class. The winner from this Baton Rouge Soccer Club All-star game could play Mandeville in the next round. Do any MSC club players play on Mandeville? I think there is a little rivalry between those two clubs. I could be wrong.

Congratulations to EA staying cool and finishing 4 out of 5 PKs to take down Lafayette. This kind went how a 14-19 matchup should. Guess the coaches didn't have it right after all. The power rankings had them right where they belonged.

Oh Pompey you are embarrassing yourself. BR was 10-2 and won district in 2013. I can send you a game by game recap of the entire season of you'd like. I have it. My memory tells me We started 9-0 in district and lost 2 out of last 3. That's the response for a congratulations? Wow.

Coaches seeding had BR #9 SJA 11 and EA 14. I think that is how the district finished. SJA was 9-3 and BR was 10-2 and finished 1,2. I will put up the rest of the district when I check my stuff. Again congrats on your win over Laffy. Was trying to create some positive vibe here. You snuffed that out.

Best of luck Tuesday. Will be a riveting game. Neutrals likely have St Joes as the winner. I see the rivalry making this game super super close. Will be a fantastic showcase of girls soccer. Best of health to both posse's

Prior to that, Ascension Posse were in Hahnville/Destrehen river parishes district. Prior to that EA was 4A. I remember a super stout Dutchtown team in with Joes/BR district and they won at least one. St Amant I believe tied one dist championships when had Melissa Garey and crew hit Semis. Circa 2003??
