So apparently there's a new rule. When the attacking team is in the penalty area, they cant say anything, such as mine or right here. Only the defending keeper can? I want to know if this is enforced throughout Louisiana High School Soccer?

This is true. So, to get around the rule, I have taught my players Norwegian so that the ref does not know what they are actually saying. The only problem is that they keep wanting pickled herring for a pregame snack.

This is a verbal tactic designed to deceive the opponent. Cautionable.

Is this really true or are you being facetious?

K. So it's only cautionable if in the eyes of ref it is designed to confuse the other team.
Communicating to your team that you have it or you are open is OK as long as ref doesn't feel like you are trying to confuse .

Example. When we play pickup soccer, I have a buddy who will call out to that players on the other team "I am open" or "drop" to try to get them to pass him the ball. When it happens, he heads off giggling towards the other goal.

K. That makes sense. I was just thinking of all the work our coach was doing to get our players to communicate.
