"ULL's field meets all the requirements and is In the perfect location." If you live in Lafayette, or points west. "This is the finals we are talking about and no matter where it is there will be a great turn out." I am sorry, but this is utter bunkum, poppycock and balderdash. When the finals were in Shreveport, there were maybe a couple of hundred hardy folks would make the drive. Having been there for 2 finals, there were more birds in the stands than people. "But I'm pretty sure the finals is on a Saturday so we don't have to worry about missing school, that is not a factor." According to LHSAA website, the finals are: 02.26.2015 - 02.28.2015. Soccer State Championships. I am pretty sure all three days are not a Saturday. 20 seconds to look this up on The Google. Players, and fans from the schools would have to miss school on the Thursday or Friday. "If You live in Lafayette, or points west." Or points east. It's the same as us driving there and Yall driving here. "When the finals were in Shreveport, there were maybe a couple of hundred hardy folks would make the drive." Nobody is talking about putting it there, that's irrelevant comment.

Tulane is the best venue. Period. Brand new 30000 seater bowl stadium.. It should be a venue where the kids are excited to play in!! High school football get to play their final in the superdome!! What a reward for reaching the state final.
Soccer you get Tad Gormley.

After some research, it appears that the ideal location is: 30.699270, -91.457133. This is in New Roads; the population center for the great state of Louisiana. It is inconvenient for everyone, unless you live there, and it is a baseball field with bleachers for the first 40 or so that make it there. The good news is that as nobody will want to go there, parking is unlikely to be a problem (with apologies to both people on here from New Roads). I am sure this is too far away from New Orleans to make the people from there happy. It is not in Lafayette, so Goat and MSTWDSEDWD will complain that it is not close enough to Lafayette. From Google earth it looks like a natural grass outfield with a dirt infield, so apparently it will be better than the turf at Tad Gormley, but not as good as the pristine Bermuda grass at either LSU, ULL or the practice field I sometimes see when driving along an interstate.
Or we could go for the geographic center of the state, but that is Marksville, even further away from either New Orleans or Lafayette. I really don't care if they have facilities or not suitable for games of this stature.

I laugh it off as a feeble attempt to compensate. Show me where exactly I complained about the venue? I seem to be missing it. Just like everyone else, I have a home town and I'm quite proud of it. I know what Lafayette has to offer and it is more than accommodating. Don't like the suggestion, I respect your opinion. I wonder if you are one of the members with 4 or 5 accounts who comes on to start drama? Nah...couldn't be.

You could give Bish and Irish Fro a run for their money as professional board trolls.

MSWTD, or whomever you are, I am sure this was not a threat to sports official. IF it was, please read HB227.
I also have a home town: what a small world this is. I was merely pointing out how sensitive yourself and Mr Goat seem to be if anyone dares to mention that civilization does not end at the city limits of Lafayette: QED
I have one account. I used to have another (furriner) but got locked out when the email address linked to it became defunct).
But, the big point is, LHSAA decides where the finals will be. They used to be in Shreveport which was great when Caddo were in the finals (5 years back, give or take): they are currently in NOLA. I happen to live in neither. No matter where the final is, or on which day of the year they decide to hold it/ them, someone is not going to be happy. Except, that is, HappyJack: he is always happy.

Does the good Cap'n know you're using his hook? I'm sure you are aware how possessive some folks can get regarding their things.

You obviously DO NOT read very well !! Did you see the part about "I laugh it off...." . Furthermore, I am very well versed in law - trust me on that and if you are an official, your lack of class and character can lead one to assume you aren't a very good one! You should also be schooled in the fact that in order for a threat to be a crime in Louisiana, the person making the threat has to have the "immediate ability to carry it out". Not sure why you'd consider me sensitive? Do you need a hug?

Everyone in this thread just relax and accept the reality that the finals ain't leaving Tad Gormley anytime soon, regardless of what any of us want. So those two people in New Roads will just have to wait.

As long as it doesn't end up in Texas...oops I mean Shreveport again I'll be happy. Just say no to Texas. Dang it, I mean Shreveport. Just say no to Shreveport. Fro, I went to all the finals up there. It helped that I was working up there at the time. The people worked hard to make it a good time but I don't think the attendance every got over 500 maybe 600 people, and that was with Capt Shreve, and Caddo, each making the finals. The best place is somewhere on I-10 between New Orleans and Lafayette. You will have to check with my English teacher PureSoccerUK to tell you what the UL soccer field holds because the University site out right lies about it holding 5000 people.

Meaning "best" in a more universal sense of course. Pretty sure our stands don't hold 7,500 though.

My biggest complaint is that they don't hold a state championship event. I used to attend the state championship tournament up north where I lived. I'd go for semifinals on friday and finals on Saturday. All four classes. Non stop games for 3 days (I wouldn't attend quarterfinals on Thursday). 4 championship games on one day. For years it was one ticket got you the entire days action but then they got greedy and started clearing the place out after two games. This was the boys tournament in the fall, girls did the same thing in the spring.
For the life of me I can't figure out why Louisiana holds state championship games on a weeknight, or even in the case of basketball last year on a Thursday afternoon. It would be possible to play 6 matches on a Saturday here. You'd have to start kind of early Saturday, but soccer fans/parents are certainly used to that!
And for goodness sakes find a place that the lights don't go out!
