Looks like the first district battle between these two, ranked within one spot of each other in several polls. Who you got?

depends on which ED White team shows up. I'm not sure about this next statement, but it seems like ED White comes into games TOO sure of themselves, and a little TOO cocky.... they should just calm down, take a business like approach to their games and play THEIR game and they'll be just fine! They have to remember they have accomplished NOTHING yet, and knowing that they will stay hungry!

I'm not sure about this next statement, but it seems like ED White comes into games TOO sure of themselves, and a little TOO cocky.... Nothing can be further from the truth, the EDW girls really don't know what cocky is! In contrast to BF, STM, VC and the other DII powers who have, "been there and done that", EDW really hasn't. This IS a extremely tight knit group of young ladies who maybe still have a little bit toooooo much 'play' in them, and accordingly, results may vary or they may present an air of cockiness. EDW probably could benefit from a more 'business-like' approach. They certainly have the talent and team chemistry, but the challenge is to raise their game to the next level. With that said, I've seen them play some beautiful futbol and some head scratching socca!

What makes you think they are cocky and too sure of themselves ? Any examples of this. Might be confused with your Ben Franklin ( the super team) and undisputed #1 seed. Everyone playing for second, I quess. Why doesn't Ben Franklin play up. EDW choices to play up to DII, i am sure lhsaa would allow Ben Franklin to play DI , but again that too many big teams up there year in and out to Contend with, and they would be placed in a harder district also ........just saying

But one statement is true..depends what ED White shows up...I think they can be as good as they wanna be very talented and very physical, I said that too....Me saying everyone else is playing for #2 isn't saying BF will win the title, only that they SHOULD be there and everyone else is playing to see who will face them....Do you disagree with that?? and just asking...do you think BF would not be in the title game in D1....if you think that you obviously don't know ANYTHING about this team.... SSA probably the cream of the crop in D1 followed by Dominican....we played em both.....the highlights on here...check em out for yourself ....maybe you saying BF should go D1 is wishful thinking on your part! :-)

1) schools can request to play up. Yes traditionally schools stay and play in their right division // EDW should be at dIII by attendance but choose to play up
2) Ben Franklin In title game? Would have to see how they play when faced with those teams for three weeks straight at CRUNCH Time to get to finals. That's why there is a playoff system and not just a pick best system .. sometimes better teams don't always win! That's why they play the game. Ex Dominican over SSA, EDW over Dominican, Lutcher over EDW, and so on
3.) Wishful thinking to get Ben Franklin to move ... NOT At ALL, . stating the facts that if there is not enough competition in DII move up. Myself I think that the division are silly , with possible a forth one coming soon, the lhsaa will screw it up just like the american football screw up with public and private and 9 champions at every level, makes for a watered down and less meaningful championship.
4) when it is all said and done the best team can win on any given day, and may lose on another day... ... Jesuit over John Curtis in american football this year

I wouldn't be surprised either way but I'll pick Vandy in a tight 2-1 game. They are always a very good team, talented and well coached, and I'm expecting another deep run from them in the DII playoffs this year, should be there in the semifinals. But ED White is a solid up and comer making some noise, they deserve their respect as well. Should be a good game, maybe home field could be a difference for ED White? With most of the DII attention on BF, STM, and Loyola, don't be surprised if Vandy or ED White pulls off a victory against one of those 3, come playoff time. This result will be interesting!
I'd love to see more of these previews and game threads in the big D1 match ups also. It just seems like there's so little conversation on teams like Mt Carmel, Mandeville, Northshore....and even the SSA-Dominican showdown got no hype in advance. Glad to see a thread for this game.

You are correct outwide, schools can request to play at a higher division at the state lhsaa meetings.
My best quess in this match is that it will be a close one, a pickem game . maybe a draw

One thing is certain...it doesn't matter if these two are 10-0 or 0-10 at this point. They anticipate these games with each other probably since the end of last season. It's a great rivalry.

Well played game for the conditions, slick field, steady rain whole match. Good back and forth match . Well matched teams should both be in top 6 at end of year. Vandy has speed and looks to counter attack, will let you possess the ball an looks to use speed to. Counter. Vandy runs are excellent off the counter. EDW hung tough gave up one on a scrum in the box, other goal was a blast by striker on a great move on the wet turf to beat EDW defender for a one v one with goalie.
If vandy number 4 EDW number 5 Should be another good one next time too.

Yeah vandy had more good looks off the counter attack as the game went on, difference in the game was the Stryker play , vandys Stryker is probably one of the top strykers in the state at any level. They have a counter attacking game plan. From what I saw tonight, like Outwide stated before, VAndy allows you to possess the ball and than they play over the mid to the Stryker to start the counter attack, the Stryker drops it off to the mids once the move forward. Than they spread it out across the top with speed. Great game plan. vandys defenses is big and good but gets out of place when balls are played to corners. That makes their two centers defenders move out the middle and that's make for better match ups for the attacking team.
EDW lacks the over the top through ball. They also never played outwide to the corners often enough. A few minor adjustment would have made a little difference.
All in all was a good district game with to good teams with different game plans. There next match should be just as good. I am sure adjustments will be made by both teams. They should finish 1-& 2 I that district.
Oh and rain sucks when u in the stands , feels better on the sideline. I hate sitting in the stands on rainy days, but I quess it could have been 30 degrees and rain too.
Good luck the rest of the way lady's, everyone be safe this weekend. If weatherm en are correct bring your boots and rain gear to games, I forgot mine tonight,

Good recap, sounds like it was a good one. I could not see myself heading out in the rain and felling a little under the weather to get out there. Hope to catch there next match later in season.
