New Iberia has a girl in the midfield #23 or #26 not quite sure, but she was the girls that stood out to me in the NISH versus Lafayette game.

Her Name is Maddy Girouard #27. She a freshman and is defiantly one of the best center midfielders in the district.

Would just like to say, that all players that were mentioned for All-District nominations are forwards or mid-fielders or goalies. These players create assist and goals- which helps win games, goalies do amazing things to defend the goal...but let us not forget the players that help keep the goalie relaxed and help keep the opposing team from scoring- those players that help the goalies to keep the scoreboard in their favor.... The DEFENSE! Researched the 'goals scored against' , here are the results: Acadiana-4, Comeaux-6, Barbe-8, Sulphur-10, Carencro-15, New Iberia-15, lafayette-16, Sam Houston-45 Would suggest we get the names of the defensive lines from Acadiana & Comeaux and make a few nominations from that group of girls.

Caroline Mitchell for LHS and Kennedi Smith for AHS are both center backs. Also, Bailee Cary is a holding mid for AHS as well as #7 for LHS. These are all defenders. I will agree though, that more defensive players should be mentioned as there are a lot of good ones out there!

I know one of the Comeaux defenders is Bailey Mannina- a freshman. Not sure of her number.

sportsfan1 Your totals for points allowed are a little off. I just checked 2 schools - Acadiana has allowed 5 goals in district play and Lafayette has allowed 9 in district play.
And if that was the total for the season, they are still off.

Acadiana's back line has consisted of 6 players for the majority of this year all. Complete list includes Jasmine Albarado(Jr), Vanessa Eshette(Jr), Madison Mouton(Fresh), Madison Burns(Sr), Sarah Matte(Fresh) and Kennedy Smith (Soph),who has played just the last 3 games at Center Back. Jasmine Albarado has not missed a game this season. She was awarded 1st Team last year if memory serves, and Vanessa was 2nd Team last year.

Comeaux defenders to mention are Faith Harris,Emma Middleman,Taylor Campbell. Must also mention keeper Callie Miller did a fantastic job this season with 12 clean sheets including holding Lafayette and St. Thomas Moore scoreless and winning both shoot outs. Also another forward worth mentionng is Courtney LeBlanc.

I was giving scores against for District games only, yes- I must have included a non-District game in my calculations, also noticed teams played games AFTER I commented... Think you got the point though. thanks

Anybody know if our district has every had 6 teams make the playoffs before? Before last year and this year only the top 3 teams in each district made the playoff and if you were in a bigger district you had a chance to get a fourth team in. Those were called wildcards and I think there was only 2 wildcard teams. I'm not sure how many years this was in effect but I would have to say (from my old memory) it's been at least since 2005. Before that I can't comment, I wasn't around high school soccer before 2005.

Interesting question about district record... per LHSAA any wins in OT or PKS are ties. They allow districts to make own rules if they don't want ties for district but for power rankings and seeding it is regarded as tie.
I know this doesn't answer your question exactly. Really the only way district standings matter for playoffs is in the highly unlikely event that a district champion isn't in top 32.
