And by the way, everyone from our camp knew futbolmaniac had no clue what he was talking about

hall 97,
While your generous and selfless efforts to maintain the Northwest Louisiana soccer webpage are very much appreciated, your "opinion" is not. Your soccer opinion has never mattered much to me simply because I grew up playing this game at a high level and you have not. But what respect I did have for you because of your aforementioned contribution to the soccer community declined dramatically with your last post. There was absolutely no reason to go out of your way and bash Loyola the way you did with your "theory". I have coached Loyola for three years and every year I have scheduled or tried to schedule at least one game with Magnet, Byrd, Parkway, and Shreve and would welcome Airline if they would be willing to play us. Correct me if I am wrong but aren't those the top tier teams in Shreveport? And aren't they above Loyola's classification? Furthermore, each year I have scheduled Loyola to play in one of the more prestigious tournaments Louisiana has to offer - Copa Acadiana. Finally, I have always tried to max out the number of regular season games we play as well as the tournaments we go to. Obviously, we don't always reach the max number of games because of scheduling conflicts but we get pretty close.
So your "theory" of not welcoming higher level of competition has very little merit as opposed to, a lot of merit, that you suggest.
The games with Shreve were cancelled by Caddo Parish. Coach Slack and I did not have any say in whether those games would be played or not.
I am not sure what your life consists of outside of soccer but I do have a life away from soccer. I am currently coaching 4 middle school basketball teams that demand a lot of my "off" time. I am also in the process of planning for a wedding over the next 6 weeks and have other obligations that I have committed to outside of soccer.
I am sorry that you do not appreciate or understand why Loyola hasn't rescheduled with Shreve. But I will not tolerate you theorizing and questioning my teams willingness to compete without it going unchecked, especially when you have absolutely no merit at all.
Lets use this site for what it is meant to be used for. Not to try and muddy other schools image and reputation through unfounded and disrespectful remarks.
Frankly, I expect more from an adult.

Apparently you do?
For the record, my perception of the way the game was called is largely due to the sharp contrast of the Shreve-Haughton game on Tuesday. And that was based on the ref's personal conduct and management of the game...not necessarily the individual calls made.
And really, after all the smack talk last year of Magnet 'sweeping the district'? And the subsequent close but two Magnet losses against Shreve last season?
All I heard from the Magnet camp last year was how superior they were, better players, blah, blah, blah!
And do we need to bring up the antics from futbolmaniac?
I don't think any Shreve parents are exactly beating their chests and talking down or otherwise disparaging Magnet's program, coaches or players.
Besides, the pk aside, I don't really see how that made that huge of a difference in the end result of the game. It's not like Shreve parked the bus after that. Two more goals were scored. The offside call in the first game early first half did make an impact...because it would've given Shreve the lead. Change of tactics and all that.
Yeah, Magnet may have had better possession, but that was by design. Shreve has always had to get results with perhaps fewer club experienced players. Possession without penetration doesn't do a lot of good. Better chances? Okay, I'll concede that for the sake of argument.
Aside from all that, I have always been complimentary of Magnet's style and coaching staff.
I also said I thought that both yellow cards (against Magnet and Shreve) were a little harsh. But at least the ref applied the laws equitably and consistently. (Again maybe it's just the contrast.)
I know this was a tough (and apparently shocking) loss for Magnet.
Sissoko, you're an intelligent guy...but the blinders reference isn't resonating. That argument works both ways you know.
As always, Hall, you've entirely missed the point and are practically putting words in my and other's mouths Then maybe you need to make a more lucid point.
What, exactly, IS the point?

Well, first coach, I don't maintain the NWLa website. So, I'm not Brian Hall.
Second, congratulations on your wedding.
Third, this is a 'forum' and therefore I do have a right to my own opinion. As do you to yours.
If you took my comment as disrespectful, again, that's your opinion. And frankly, I could care less about what you will "tolerate". My suggestion is to not make it personal.
Now, if you truly had scheduling conflicts, then that certainly hasn't been communicated. If you couldn't reschedule for whatever reason) then please accept my sincere apology.
I think it's safe to say that everyone has a life outside of soccer. But your background and relative "experience" as a coach and a player does not absolve you of showing the professional courtesy required of your position.

Well for one, you're wrong about the smack talk last year. I'd love to see an example of anyone in Magnet's camp who talked this supposed smack (apart from futbolmaniac, but hell that was only one year anyways). Secondly, the entirety of the rest of your response was about the result of the game. I wasn't talking about the game's result. Not at all. I think Shreve should have won. I haven't attempted to take the win away from you, so why you harp on it as though I have baffles me. My only concern is the constant patting of eachother's backs, many times unwarranted, that you folks do around here

I only addressed the game itself because someone made the point about the pk call having a dramatic impact on the outcome.
But, ok I get it.

Nobody ever said the call had a dramatic impact?

I'm not gonna lie and say it REALLY affected the game, but no man. The officiating, like most games in shreveport it feels, was awful. Again, Shreve played as the better team, especially in the last 20 minutes (Magnet slouched and Shreve practically started toying around), but the penalty call not only looked wrong, but it definitely helped turn the tides That's the way I took it.
Anyway, game's over. No further point in arguing.
I'm ambivalent about the officiating last night anyway. Didn't hurt or favorably impact either team.
That's just my opinion.

Proud programs & proud parents/ supporters. It's a great rivalry! A Proud & great district to be a part of!
As I wrote earlier, It's all about perspective! An offside here or there not called, a pk called or not. It's good that we all care enough to spend time to VOICE our opinions. In the end, that's all that it is. An opinion.
It's my opinion that the ref crew called a great game. It's clear that the other side thought pk was a poor call- got it. we can all agree to disagree on that. First game, it appears both sides thought calls were missed. I would agree to that. I would further agree that shreve was fortunate to escape with the tie.
A great rivalry. Tight race to the finish of district. Luck to all for rest of season.

I appreciate good reffing because I understand the game and I know the rules. Again, I AM NOT saying the refs influenced the game enough to change the overall result. But bad reffing is bad reffing and I don't think bad refs should be getting credit where it isn't due Doesn't really bother me, I can see how you took it that way with the wording... And, well there's the clarification ^

if 'nobody cares' then why bring it up at all?

Yall have some really good people up there that care a lot about the sport, I hope that doesn't change. Sissoko and Hall I hope both of you are doing well. Maybe I'll run into one or both of yall come playoff time. Oh and one more thing, GO Wreckin RAMS and GO Mighty LIONS!

Shame that a good thread has fallen into one with personal attacks.
As of now, Pineville, Alexandria, West Monroe, Ruston, and Ouachita are in the playoffs and Magnet is not. Wow. When was the last time Magnet missed the playoffs? The 90's perhaps?
Goat, hope all is well in your world.
Good luck to those making the playoffs.

With the games that has been reported for Caddo the within the last week, I would look for them to make a significant jump in PR today.

Right now District 1 has 4 teams above the cutoff
Shreve 13 Byrd 22 Airline 25 Magnet 27 -----------------32 Covington 9.71 Parkway 39 9.10
going to be an interesting final few days.
until we see how the seedings break and the results of round 1 and two will we be able to see if PR's did a reasonable job of seeding over the coaches poll. I have my doubts going in
