We are pleased at Russell Marina's Grill's Monday Night Futbol to announce that we will start our statewide WGSO /Club Soccer Player of the Week next Monday. You can nominate your player either using this thread or emailing me directly at [aderitter] here on laprep. Our committee will then vote and then the winner will have their name heard, have an interview on the show and get a Player of the Week T-Shirt to proudly display! Let us know what that player did this week to merit such consideration. The more details the better. Our first player will be announced on next week's show so get your nominations in TODAY!

Great job keeping the sport in the spotlight Coach Deritter.
For some reason I've been reading your subject line as meaning it was an award given out to club soccer players. But listening to the show last night I realize that Club Soccer means the award is sponsored at least in part by Club Soccer store over on Veterans near Lafreniere Park. (At least I think that's right?)
The capitalization should have given me a clue but it went over my head.

Ha... you are right about the sponsorship but not about your intelligence! Your support for boys soccer is legendary and I hope you have success in the playoffs. God Bless You.

first time listening tonight because our St.Pauls keeper was being honored and deservedly so... I gave Colin Hanley the game ball today from the state championship game. He had a good finals, stellar playoffs and great season... we gave up 9 goals all season and maybe 5 were when he was in.. I also want to give a shout-out to Coach Oertling and the Saints. We passed each other saturday night before the DI finals and spent several minutes reminiscing. He was young, passionate and argumentative about playoff times, locations, refs, etc as the new coach for the St.Louis girls back in the early 1990s and now his winning % in finals is unparalleled. I might have coached in more finals but am nowhere near his success rate. As he said tonight, it is all about getting committed, dedicated players with a great coaching staff and support from the school/community. I am also fortunate enough to have benefitted from Katrina, wealthy parents and the subsequent metro new orleans club system as mentioned tonight on the radio.
