Does anyone have the details (or meeting minutes/document) on how many teams will be in each of the C1 and C2 groups for State Cup? Looking for U17 boys in particular.
Thanks in advance.

Keep in mind that the actual bracket numbers won't be definite until the number of teams participating in the state cup is known. Those numbers won't be known until April 1st, which I believe is the deadline for registering for state cup. At the LCSL December meeting, Leslie Mullins handed out a spreadsheet which outlined the potential breakdown, according to the current numbers in the leagues and PLC teams. At U14 boys, there are 26 teams playing in the state league and 2 PLC teams. If all 28 teams register, based upon policy, there would be 6 teams in the C1 bracket (which is a one weekend event), 8 teams in C2, 8 teams in C3 and 6 teams in C4 (another one weekend event). However, all of this is based upon the total number of teams and that number won't be known by LSA until after April 1st. For U17 boys, there are currently a total of 14 teams (12 in state league and 3 in PLC) which, according to the spreadsheet, would be a 6 team C1 bracket and an 8 team C2 bracket. Someone from your club should have the handout.

Yes...thanks very much. For the record, I've tried to get the info from my club.
Was there discussion of how a 1-weekend, 6-team group will be played? Cross-bracket...2 games on Saturday, and 1 on Sunday followed by the championship game?

Really hope they would look at doing a 2 in bracket game format with 1 in each bracket playing 2 in other and the 3's playing consolation.
IMO it is a more fair way to do it rather than cross bracket. All teams play 3 with finals being 4th. You could eliminate the consolation if you wanted. I went in thinking they would want everyone to have 3 games.

I know there were arguments/confusion lasr year about how 6-team brackets would play out. Never know how it may change this year. That's the frustrating...I mean great...thing about LSA! We don't need accurate and timely information to make plans and decisions, do we?

LSA Policy - eh? the formula in LSA policy for determining the number of teams in C1 division of State Cup comes up with 8 teams for U14B. However, 6 was determined to be the better. suppose because they had decided on a one weekend tourney for C1, that playing 4 games would be just too much. There will be 4 divisions in all in U14B with C1 having 6 teams playing 1 weekend and with C2, with 3 divisions, playing 2 weekends. C2 divisions has two 8 team divisions and one 6 team. a little planning and the LSA should have known their policy formula was going to be 8 teams for C1 and planned for it and that one division in in C2 was, most likely, going to have 4 to 6 teams and should have been one weekend instead of two. Suppose they will notify the C2 6 team division that they will play a one weekend instead of two posted. problem solved. C'est La Vie

The formula actually does result in 6 teams, you may have missed the last step which uses number of teams that played in C1 cup last year that are in it this year and final number is 6. That does not mean it is easy to stomach. Particularly if you are one of the three C1 league teams that got regulated down for state cup play.

The relegation can be feast or famine. It hurts a bit to be relegated but it is also nice to finish the season in a bracket you have a realistic chance of winning. As very often the top of C2 is nearly on par with the bottom of C1 it is still quite competitive.
We were on the wrong end of relegation a couple of years back when there were three teams at the bottom of C1 with two to be relegated. The three teams had one win each in league play and the wins were against each other. A one goal differential caused our team to stay in C1 while the other 2 were relegated.
Year to year it can be tough the other way if you have a really competitive league with little difference from 1st to last. You want that last shot at the other teams and get relegated.

Having to reschedule the U11 tournament and U12 prelims won't help them get it out anytime soon.

Not affecting us but wondering why they did a 12 team comp 2 bracket for U14 girls but a 8 team comp 2 with 4 team comp 3 for u 12.

I wondered the same thing, we are also in the bottom 4, while having tied one of the top teams and 1 goal loss to 2 other high C2 teams, would rather have played a 12 team grouping

And then u14 boys has an 8 team bracket for comp 3 and 4 team comp 4. There may be a good reason but it seems to lack consistency.
