Thanks for posting that link to the article! I was looking for it yesterday and couldn't find it so I could share on facebook for Juan Carlos' family to see. There are a few errors or misquotes in the article (DIII among them) but a great effort by the writer and good view into the foreign exchange student relationship with the host family. I have seen these two kids become brothers (same as any other year we had foreign exchange kids) and even "get at" each other like brothers. The way he calls his host parents mom and dad and has become a member of their family in every way is a true treat to watch. He has great hosts who set a great example for their own children and Juan and that has made him realize American values and customs. His older siblings both go to college in America and his real family wanted him to come to America To Learn English and American ways so he would be prepared to go to college in USA as well. From what I understand, this was his reason for having to give up his dream of making a pro team in his country as he was struggling to consistently make lineup over there in youth systems. Shows how far behind we may really be as he stars here in USA playing out of position as he is a natural left winger in his country and over here he can play where ever he needs to. He has also made everyone around him better. We have some very good club players who have upped their games to be a part of some special stuff with Juan. He is also looking for any and all ID camps and trials as this is his last chance to further a soccer career and he is very interested in doing that. Hopefully he can realize that dream of playing at a higher level in the USA.
one other important error... Briley has 21 shutouts now after last night. With 4 games plus playoffs to play, he can make a great run at the state record of 25.
