I would love to just play 1 round in district since we do not compete in our district and it takes 12 of our available schedule games. I've asked around and know that several districts have gone to 1 game scheduling. Please give me feedback to present to our district! I know my team would benefit from more competitive matches on our schedule, but how would the power house teams in our district benefit or suffer from 1 round?

Your district will most likely be changing now with the passing of the 4 Divisions in soccer. I would think that it would shrink rather than grow larger.

Yes I believe we lose 1 team leaving us with 6 of us. Do you play 1 or 2 rounds?

We did play 2 each in our district with 6 teams. 10 district matches would be all I would want to play. I think our district may drop down to 3 teams now which will give us much more leeway to play other teams from around the state. I didn't feel like my schedule was crowded with 10 though. I can see how you wouldn't want to play 12 probably. The issue with only playing once would be who gets the home match? With this topsy turvy LHSAA, there's no guarantee that the districts stay the same for two years in a row.

Try having an 8 team district and play everyone twice. We had to play 14 district games (took up all of December and January). Played a 12 game schedule before and I agree that it does stink playing teams twice. But like what WMRebel said with the 4 divisions things will change, some districts may get smaller.
If the districts are set for 2 years and you play everybody once then it's just a draw of who you play at home in yr 1 and then travel to those places in yr 2

Wow! We have 7 and that kills me. How did y'all play 12 games before your district matches? Our district play starts the second week of play. I know there are a lot of districts that play 1 round. Hopefully we can hear from them!

Had 12 game district schedule when we were part of a 7 team district 2 years ago. I tried to see if we could play everyone once in my district but for some of the schools they don't feel like trying to schedule games/ hard for them because of where they are located. I wanted to play everybody once because it doesn't help when you have 2 teams in your district that get at most 3 wins in a whole season (this year one is winless)

Wow! That would give you a lot of games to fill in. Be thankful that you can pick teams that you match up with!

Yes we can choose what team we play but it's good to have a bigger district I think. I believe it helps for power rankings.

I would suggest you frame it in a way to make the other teams in your district realize that they can also benefit from it. Compared to your schedule this year, if you pick up 6 extra non-district games against evenly matched opponents and win half of them, your district opponents will be beating a 5-win team once instead of a 2-win team twice. That's much better for their power rankings.
There's also no reason district opponents can't schedule each other in non-district games. District I-6 (on the North Shore) went to one round this year to cut down on the huge blowouts, but a few of the teams still scheduled each other as non-district opponents. That way the top teams in the district can play each other twice without having to play everyone twice.

I was thinking the same thing Kevin and have presented that option. I was told they want our wins to help with their rankings, but I can't imagine beating us would help anyone rankings with power rankings.
