So I assume for the schools that were left off (McGehee and Shaw are at least 2), they have to contact everyone to make their counterproposal?
I still do not see how you redistrict and send out the districts with a deadline for making changes and do not at least make sure you put every school.

For what it is worth, here is the wording being forwarded today. Perhaps others might want to use this as a template.
To: Mr. Jimmy Anderson and Mr. B.J.Guzzardo (janderson@lhsaa.org or bguzzardo@lhsaa.org). The fax number is 225.296.5919.
Dear Sirs: Here is a counter proposal for the composition of Division IV, 2015-16 Boys' and Girls' Soccer Districts in the greater New Orleans area. The districts preliminary proposed by the LHSAA would result in three small one-team or two-team districts because many of the schools included in the LHSAA proposal do not play soccer. District IV-8 as proposed by the LHSAA would be a one-team district composed only of Haynes Academy. Fisher has not fielded a boys’ team for a number of years and Patrick Taylor has never played for district honors and according to recent communication does not plan to do so. District IV-7 as proposed by the LHSAA would be a de-facto two-team district of Country Day and St. Martin’s because Ecole and Ridgewood have not fielded a soccer team for several years. Lutheran has fielded a team but it is a 50/50 coed team that has not been competitive and has played only a very limited schedule. District IV-6 as proposed by the LHSAA has New Orleans school, Newman, included with the river parishes teams, all of whom would have to travel past many IV-7 and IV-8 schools to play each other, which increases cumulative travel time and expense. This revision proposes to reduce the greater New Orleans area Division IV Boys' and Girls' Soccer districts from three to two by eliminating IV-8. It creates two balanced districts, preserves long standing rivalries, and limits travel for many teams. The proposed IV-6 would become a de-facto five team district (unless Patrick Taylor decides to upgrade their program in the future which they have indicated is unlikely) by moving Haynes Academy and Patrick Taylor into IV-6, and Newman out to IV-7. The proposed IV-7 would pair up natural rivals Newman, Country Day and St. Martin’s who definitely will field both Boys' and Girls' soccer teams and includes Lutheran's coed Boys' team. Assigning Ridgewood, Ecole, and Fisher to the district makes it possible for those schools to have a local schedule should they decide to field a team sometime in the future. We hope you will consider the merits of this counter proposal. Revised proposal, Division IV, Boys and Girls' Soccer, 2015-16, two districts: Note: Red* - have not fielded boys' team in last two (or more) years. Note: Blue** - has not played for district honors for 6 years.
DISTRICT IV-6 1. Covenant Christian 2. Houma Christian 4. Riverside Academy 5. St. Charles 6. Haynes Academy 7. Taylor, Patrick**
DISTRICT IV-7 1. Ecole Classique* 2. Lutheran 3. Country Day 4. Ridgewood* 5. St. Martin’s 6. Newman, Isidore 7. Fisher*
Proposed by LHSAA, Boys' and Girls' Soccer, 2015-16, three districts
DISTRICT IV-6 1. Covenant Christian 2. Houma Christian 3. Newman, Isidore 4. Riverside Academy 5. St. Charles
DISTRICT IV-7 1. Ecole Classique* 2. Lutheran 3. Country Day 4. Ridgewood* 5. St. Martin’s

They would fit nicely best into IV-7.

Is it coming from a principal? If it isn't coming from a principal, it will be discarded and ignored. Do those principals, really want what you are writing down? Do those coaches? Maybe they want less district games for power ratings scheduling purposes? You should run this by at least half of those coaches and principals and have those principals sign off it this is what it wanted. Only way it would happen.

You should run this by at least half of those coaches and principals and have those principals sign off it this is what it wanted. Only way it would happen. Yes, this will come from a principal. However, there is no way they can run it by coaches and principals of 16 schools in 2 hours. Tell, me, was the LHSAA's fantastic N.O. area D-IV district proposal run by any principals or coaches before it was promulgated? At least this alternative proposal has incorporated knowlege of the local soccer community. The LHSAA D-IV New Orleans proposal is pretty odd. I wonder, who isolated Haynes Academy into a one-team district? Who put CD and StMartin's their little two-team district? Who assigned Newman to that wide-spread district? Who forgot to put McGehee's girls team into any district? Chad, I know you are all for this play around the State for PR points. Your division looks pretty good. But others are not good, and can be improved. And other teams without your resources do not have the finances to travel far and wide seeking PR points or just games to fill up the schedule. Last year Haynes played higher classification Beau Chene, EDWhite, Bonnabel, Mandeville, East Jefferson, among others. The weaker area D-III teams did not want to play Haynes and the stronger bigger teams required them to travel or didn't have a schedule opening. District at least provided a core of games that simplified scheduling, even though it was a very tough district. How can the LHSAA just put out this pretty strange proposal to people who don't even know what soccer is (the principals) or what forms a good district? And then how can they ask all schools contact all other schools, and give just a few days to do it, especially with part-time coaches who are often absentee after the season is over? Well, if those people want to dismiss this revision without considering the argument, fine, but they are making a mistake. Unfortunately, it is the mid-level programs that will pay for it. This is what will eventually kill programs, drive them to just play at a recrerational level and forgo trying to have a serious program.

pOkLE, there is a MAJOR change in D1 in that this shows a split in the Northshore into 2 districts. Mandeville and Slidell schools in one district, Covington and Tangipahoa schools in another. There may be more, but that jumped out at me immediately.

I also petitioned for the split on the northshore. As for the girls...yes they should be split as well. That being said, we shall see. I assumed the southshore would split as well. That they disn't was the big surprise to me. That would have given us 8 districts in Division I (Each with a pretty strong squad anchoring them imo). On a final note, will Christ Episcopal of Covington be an LHSAA recognized school? I know they wont be in a district, but will they be a member school recognized through power ratings?

Taylor, Patrick This is no better than the first proposal. In Div IV, now there are TWO 2-team New Orleans districts. De-facto we have IV-8 with Newman and Haynes; IV-7 with Country Day and St. Martin's. At least IV-6 has four teams that actually play games. Fisher, Ecole, Ridgewood do not field a boys team, Pat Taylor never plays for district honors, Lutheran is a coed team that only plays 5-6 games a year and may not even participate next year. This "proposal" has not helped make scheduling easier for the mid-level programs by creating a core of solid district games. Why is there such a resistance to doing the obvious; either put he Div IV New Orleans teams that play soccer into one district, or, move either CD, StM or Haynes to IV-6 and put the other three programs together. This would create two relatively strong districts. Who is doing this and who is advising on these issues? This makes no sense from a Boys' Soccer perspective.

The split on the Northshore has a strong team anchoring the districts with a split, but no district rivals for either SSA or SPS and not much of a reason for fans to come to district matches. I never played my full varsity squad against Ponchatoula, Hammond, or Covington. My players would be devastated not competing with the likes of Fontainebleau, Mandeville, and Northshore. Six district games that would drag us down in the power ratings with no balance in the district to help. I can only hope that LHSAA comes to their senses and does not break apart such a great soccer district on both the boys and girls side.
