Ronaldinho, it's good to see you come right out and support the home team! umm I've given the common results chart, talked about the pedigrees of both teams, but I haven't even decided what I think will happen and I think Loyola deserves more respect than the voting has given them. They have a real chance in this final, especially if they can keep defending well. Their defensive record will be put to the test but it has been outstanding so far. Loyola also seems to have one of the best strikers out there. Not sure why you're bringing up SSA-MCA, or the earlier BF-SSA games, but I agree the DI final will be an absolute classic as well. Haven't yet gotten around to posting common results for that one but I agree with you how good of a game it will be. Fans should go to both games.

Of course fans should go to all three girls finals as they all deserve their places next week.
Having played both teams during this year it would truly be a upset should Loyola win,
Loyola has wonderful players but BF had been tested time and time again but prevailing each time as they will again.
Understanding the passion of fans here but regardless it will be win on the pitch as it should.

Even though you love your Falcons, the two ties to SSA mean nothing as to who is best overall. Those games were friendly's, non-conference, and who knows who played who and why, in that circumstance. There are no friendlies except for preseason scrimmages. Everything counts the same in the power ratings. I watched the BF-SSA game at Pan Am and saw two great teams fight to a draw. BF and Loyola are the two best teams in D2. And thus, this will be BF's toughest test of the playoffs. But I think BF's core players will see them through in a tough, close game. I'll take BF to win 3-2.

Believe Loyola's strength is its balance. Front to back. Speed & size. See no weaknesses. BF strength appears to be its ability to score. Strong front & middle. Not belittling the defense, but it is not as strong as the offense. That said, I believe it comes down to Loyola having to score 3 + goals to win. Though I will root for Loyola, think they will score 2 max. Final 3-2 Ben Franklin. ?

Ben Franklin 3-0. Perhaps 4. Possession will be near 80-20 BF.

If BF can control 80-20 and win that easily, then what does that say about Lakeshore, Northshore, Mandeville, Dominican, & Byrd. If dreams were wishes and wishes came true.......

Ben Franklin 3-0. Perhaps 4. Possession will be near 80-20 BF. I like Ben Franklin's chances as much as the next guy, but they aren't going to outpossess Loyola 80-20, live in Loyola's half the whole game, and easily stroll to a 3 or 4 goal win. In last year's final, BF showed how to be resolute, patient, and efficient with a disadvantage in possession. Loyola, like STM last year, is quality and their record proves it. They're not just going to be walked over. I anticipate an exciting game.

Ben Franklin won the state championship when they beat STM last week. I think they easily roll over Loyola this week. This isn't meant to be totally sarcastic, but have you been paying attention to DII this year and following the best teams? I wonder what else Loyola needed to do this season to gain people's respect and recognition. Even for those picking Ben Franklin, which is completely reasonable, Loyola appears to be the best team Ben Franklin has played all year besides probably SSA. W 1-0 St. Joseph's W 3-0 Lakeshore W 2-0 Teurlings W 4-0 Neville T 0-0 Dominican T 2-2 Fontainebleau W 3-2 Mandeville W 2-0 Northshore W 2-0 Byrd W 3-1 Neville W 2-0 Lakeshore Speaks for itself really.

Maybe not cancel that game against STM Many people believe that's how Loyola kept that number one seed by forgoing that game. right wrong or indifferent that is the perception. wouldn't have mattered to BF because we were never going to get the #1 seed regardless. so was it good smart scheduling or a manipulation of the system? dosen't matter now......supposedly the two best teams will meet. but I cant help wondering if STM feels that way!

Just to be clear, not one person on this thread is one of our parents or players (including Snoopy1). The debate and conjecture of seeding vs coaches poll is just that now. for those not filling out their PR spreadsheet as the season went on, it would not have mattered even if we lost to STM as far as us being #1 in PR. If you call that working the system then that is fine with me. In the playoffs you have to win to keep playing and we have done that - 28 times. Luckily, none of us on here get to step on the field and my girls know not to read the board this week. There is no doubt that Ben Franklin is the favorite and has been since their streak started over two years ago. What I can say is that we have earned our right to play the game regardless of what any of you think. If anyone here believes that we will roll over and not leave every ounce of what we have on the field, then you are crazy. We realize what we are up against and respect what Ben Franklin has accomplished. We are ready to take our shot and don't need anyone's respect.

Coach you absolutely have nothing to explain to anyone of us on this forum. Your team has absolutely earned their place in the state championship game, and if an undefeated record doesn't earn a team respect then nothing will!
I believe the two best teams are in the finals! two undefeated teams..dosen't get ANY better than that!

My advice to coaches or players reading this board is "Haters are like crickets; they make a lot of noise you can hear but you never see them, then you walk right by them and they're quiet." I try to keep my post to a minimum on here, I tried to battle against the noise but this forum isn't one where common sense always prevails.
As for Friday's game I know both teams will put hard work to execution and give us a great state championship. Respectfully I do feel STM and Loyola are 2A & 2B, come Friday both will have had a shot at two-time defending state champion Ben Franklin, who if able to beat Loyola Friday should go down in legendary status as having run the gauntlet thru the titans of D2 (let's not forget they beat Teurling's Catholic in the quarters). Should Loyola Prep win they too should hold the trophy high as they will have defeated the mythical Godzilla.
Best of luck to both!

No prediction on score but BF wins. But very interesting story line for this game: we will either have a "Three-peat Champeen" or a chorus of "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead". Meant in jest of course, nothing against either team as they are both deserving Finalists.

I'm already practicing my Howard cosell impression if BF loses "DOWN GOES FRANKLIN!" "DOWN GOES FRANKLIN!"

Score will be 3-2 with a last minute goal to avoid OT. I hope by Loyola.

Saw Loyola beat Mandy at Lakeshore and haven't seen BF so I probably shouldn't be saying anything, but any team that plays SSA twice and comes away without a loss...they get my pick. Two very good attacking players stood out to me watching the Mandy game. So I will say 4-2 BF.
