Not even close to getting it right. But to be fair coaches seeding would probably have been off in Div II this year also. BC would have gotten the #1 seed from the coaches as well.

Power rankings dropped the ball in D2. To be fair, D2 was definitely the most wide-open division going in.
If seeding had been done based on the final coaches' poll it would have probably been:
1. Beau Chene 2. Franklin 3. St. Michael 4. Vandebilt 5. East Jeff 6. Bolton
Franklin certainly is not the seventh best team in D2. Would the results have been the same? Who knows?
I still think coaches should have a little say so, maybe correcting the polls within a certain standard deviation to avoid anomalies.

Power ranking or coaches polling? Best two dii teams are playing for state championship. Seems like that is what is on latest bracket.

Power rankings dropped the ball in D2. I know I'm biased since PR seemed to benefit us this year, but I disagree. Pre-playoff PR simply states how well your season has gone up to that point, not how you will finish the playoffs. Maybe you could argue that PR got it wrong if the championship was determined solely on PR and no playoffs ... Yes, there is a general correlation between best teams during season and best during playoffs. But I don't think the system gets it "wrong" if it's not 1v2 in final. PR rewards you for winning games you "shouldn't win" but do, and penalizes you for losing games you "should've won" but didn't. The formula doesn't allow coaches to discount results despite "knowing" which team is "better". After thinking it over, I like that more than leaving it up to the discretion of coaches....which is almost always purely subjective.

And last year the same two teams faced in the finals but they were seeded 3 and 8. I'm not sure I can draw any conclusion to compare the two years based strictly on that. Last year was essentially no different.

Ben Franklin 2-1 in overtime. Goal by Oliver in overtime. I'm taking all my money on Vandy next year though.

Weather forecast for game will be in the 40's with a NE wind of 10-15 mph. Will the officials at Tad Gormley let us bring in portable heaters? Some of the venues did not allow them.

For anyone reporting on the game, please note the minute each goal is scored.
Also, please post cards as they are issued.
Bragging rights are on the line in the pick em competition so I would appreciate your help.
Since my middle son is putting on a Christian Rap concert tonight, I will likely not be near a computer much during the game to follow-up so if any of the others out there can make sure we're asking these questions, it would be great.
Thanks so much!
