Was it that St.Pauls was that good this year or that the other teams weren't good enough to compete with them? That sounds like circular logic. I saw SPS at their Holiday Tourney and I thought that they were not as 'good' as in the past few years. Then I saw them against Mandeville in the semis and they had improved a lot in two months. That makes them a 'good' team to me. If Guin (sp) had another great strike like he had in the semifinal, then he is a very 'good' player. Successful players bring their best in big games.

Certainly the most impressive high school team I have seen in person. They truly play like a team, but each individual player had exceptional first touch and footwork. Jesuit rarely possessed the ball for more than half a minute at a time.
I would say Jesuit only had one really good scoring chance all game (in the 73rd minute), compared to about eight for St. Paul's.

Many of the Juniors played in the Disney Showcase during the St Paul"s invitational so the Wolves weren't full strength.

I commend NOLA.com for their coverage of our Championship game, both in print and video! Most I've seen in my four years following high school soccer! Future is bright for our game!

You can't really see Guin's follow-through in the video, but his legs formed almost a perfect 90-degree angle. Incredible what the human body can do. I don't think any of us were expecting that goal. What a shot.
I had a perfect view of it from near the corner flag. Glad I was paying attention.

Great game. St Paul's was the superior team from the first minute to the last, although Jesuit had a nice little run for about 10-15 minutes in the first half. Having Jose Aleman and Chase Rushing come out of the game for a time really hurt Jesuit's creativity and potency in the final third, Dillon Fuchs seemed like he was on an island up there. I thought it was a mistake for Rushing to be moved out of the midfield to the striker position because the Jesuit midfield lacked a solid presence that it needs against a team like St. Paul's, for the rest of the game. I must say that #16 for Jesuit hustled a lot and filled in very well. Jesuit's #19 (Pitre?) did very well in the 10 minutes he got at the end of the game, why didn't he play more? St Paul's was fantastic, great ball movement, great hustle, great tactical awareness. You could see how badly St. Paul's wanted it through the 50/50 balls, I felt that St. Paul's won the vast majority of these. The goal from Guin was awesome too, we have to nominate it for the Puskas award! Congrats to the Wolves. #19 Jesuit is Hunt Navar
