The FINALS are here so that means it will also be our final PICK 'EM competition. The Finals will be mostly the same as the Semifinal contest with points added for predicting # of cards. Tie-breakers will involve guessing the minute of the game-winning goal. Here are the rules: • You guess BOTH the half-time AND final scores for each of the 3 Final games. • In case of shootout wins/losses, do NOT add one goal to the winning team • You also predict the number of cards (red or yellow) that will be shown. Soft red only counts the 2 yellows. • For tie-breaking purposes, also predict the game-winning minute for each of the 3 games. • Selecting 10 for any grid choice counts as 10 or more. You earn: • 1 point for picking the correct goals scored for any team by half-time (6 teams x 1 point = 6 points possible) • 2 additional points for guessing the exact half-time score in any game (2 points x 3 games = 6 points possible) • 2 point for picking the correct goals scored for any team by game end (6 teams x 2 point = 12 points possible) • 5 additional points for guessing the exact end of game score in any game (5 points x 3 games = 15 points possible) • 3 points for guessing the exact number of cards issued in the game (or 1 point for being within 1 card of being right) (3 points x 3 games = 9 points possible) So if you get the half-time score exactly right and the final score exactly right and the number of cards exactly right, you would earn a total of 16 points for that 1 game. A perfect score for all 3 finals would be 48 points. The tiebreaker is to predict the minute of the goal that is ultimately the game-winner in each game (i.e. if the losing team scores 2, at what minute (up to 110) was the 3rd goal scored by the winner?). Stoppage time will be treated as the 40th or 80th minute (or similarly for OT and Golden Goal periods). If you are picking a shootout, make your prediction as 111. Tiebreaking points will be the absolute value of the difference between your guess & actual (and adding all 3 games together). Deadline: Thursday at 7:30pm (The form may still be live, but entries will not count after 7:30pm)Good luck to everyone. Who will be the final top dog of the season? By the way, I will need official stat keepers at each game (volunteers anyone?) since I will not be at any of these games (sigh!)

This is so convoluted. I love it. Can we add number of players violating NFHS uniform rules (eg, color of uni, tape on socks, maybe an earring)?

So far, the experts are: * Picking St. Paul's unanimously * Picking St. Louis nearly unanimously * DII is a toss-up
What do you think?

How many cards will happen this weekend?
Based on the experts (so far), they say that there will be an average of about 9 cards given for all 3 games with the most carded game being the DIII event.
The fewest projected by any one expert is 4 for all 3 games up to a high projected of 16 cards for all 3 games (with 7 of those being in the DII game).
Agree? Disagree?
Get your picks in by 7:30 on Thursday to earn bragging rights for the year!

So when will the game winner be scored? The "experts" are saying that it will take place:
* in the 40th minute for St. Paul's * in the 54th minute for DIII with about 75% of picks going to St. Louis * in the 62nd minute for DII which is still a toss-up for a winner
Agree?
Get your picks in now. Due by tomorrow at 7:30. Show us what you know. Surely you can beat some of these guys (see, I didn't even mention you guys - pokle & lojic).

75% of the participants are picking St. Louis over Northlake tonight in a game where they expect to see between 1 & 5 cards issued tonight and the game winning goal to happen in the 54th minute (but as early the 14th and as late as the final minute of OT).
Get your picks in by 7:30 tonight to compete - all 3 divisions are combined so tonight is the deadline!
Good luck to both Coach Chetta and Coach Oertling and their respective teams tonight!

is there any way a participant can go in and see what their picks are??? i completely the entry first night out, and i now have little recollection of # of cards and minute in the game for gwg?? I hope to be home by kick off. Once I get home, I will lock the ability to make new entries and make public with a link to the file itself on though it's kind of busy. I will need people that are reporting to note the minute of the game when goals are scored as well as to be paying attention to cards issued. So any of you out there doing that, please feel free to update on this thread or the game thread.

We have 25 contestants. 3 of them had St. Louis scoreless in the first half so they've slipped to the bottom of the pack.

Our pick 'em experts have tonight's DII matchup as the closest game of the 3. They are split 50/50 in terms of who they are picking to win. On average, they project each team to score about 2 goals.
They also expect 3 cards (on average) to be issued, but it ranges from 1 expert saying 0 and another saying 7. Any reporters, please note cards in the thread as well so that we can keep track.
Game winning goal is expected in the 60th minute (but ranges from 21st to a shootout).
Good luck to everyone!
