I understand the Jesuit made it to the finals but Catholic BR tied Jesuit twice and looked like the better side in both matches. Catholic BR also had a better results in some scenarios. I understand that this is just a hypothetical bracket and the results weren't the focus but lets not rush to saying Jesuit is better just because they are Jesuit.

Based on the postings on another thread, Catholic wouldnt stand a chance against the "Co-Division I Champs" of Vandy and be would be bounced in the first round - HAHA. I do like this concept though but like many I am skeptical that anything will come to be.

I am skeptical as well in terms of true feedback. With this set up, 6 schools statewide would have 6 playoff matches. Everybody else would be 5 max. As for "teams advancing" in the above scenarios, these are NOT my opinions or predictions but are based solely on power ratings. Additionally, there are still only 96 teams making the playoffs. As for growing the sport, regional tournament champions can be set up for the newer or weaker squads. It gives them something to play for as well as additional practices. I will try to put that together soon.

So Catholic BR is the D1 State Champs. hahaha.

It is fun to speculate. Needless to say, there would be some great matchups in the offer. There were some schools left out of the mix in this breakdown that were deserving to be playoff squads imo. Just from my neck of the woods Pope John Paul II and Hannan were left out. Going to a 3,2,1 format for earning points would make things more legit imo.

In the new age of Power Rankings, why cant we do what you propose and take the top 24 or 32 in rankings and put them in the Top Tier to let them play for the State Championship. Then breakdown the next 2-3 sets of teams the same way and let them play for "Divisional Championships" I have argued this point on the Club side as well - You want to be called State Champ, play in C1. If not, you are just a C2 and so on winner.

I get what you are saying but the playing field really isn't level. Big schools with deeper benches do have an advantage. That being said, the starting eleven on powerhouse squads like St. Louis or Vanderbilt ( and others) are good enough to win the BIG trophy in some years. The double elimination makes their position more feasible. It also encourages teams to challenge themselves in the regular season to climb into that top 32. If they lose against a big boy, they are simply relegated to a lower divisional playoff. Yes there a more trophies at the top end, but to encourage the best to be challenged by elite squads, there need to be some rewards. On the flip side, teams down the ladder have a chance to grow. To me it leads to player development at every level. Hopefully, showing this hypothetically played out will help people understand what I was thinking.
