Kenroy Rodriguez from Grace King. Definitely one for the future. Ok... But what did he do this year as a freshman?

In addition to Brandon Core, Milton Zelaya also had a great year at Covington. Two freshmen center mids playing a schedule that included St. Mike's, St. Paul (x 2), Lakeshore, Hammond, Fontainebleau, Grace King (x2), Mandeville, Northshore, Pope John Paul II, Salmen, Central Lafourche, and very competitive Slidell and Ponchatoula squads. 6-10-1 against that lineup shows their quality. Our showing in the St. Paul freshmen tournament (2-0-1) was largely due to these two guys. Good stuff, especially in those positions against a brutal schedule.

Kenroy Rodriguez from Grace King. Definitely one for the future. Ok. But what did he do this year as a freshman? Just little to say, he started all games, top goal scorer for King, got about 3 hatricks, one of them in hes very first playoff game, very skillfull player,he'll makee about 5 to 7 megs per game, oh yeah he'll meg u. Bunch of assists. But king has other starting freshman Ozzy vega #2, play all varsity games as left back. Marcelo carias #7 play all varsity games except last one due to a concussion. Maikol almendaruz #8

Robert Roy from Alexandria. Smallest player on the field but plays with a lot of heart. Plays striker on a very young Alexandria team with only one senior and two juniors on the field. Relied heavily on a young group and he gave us the offensive spark mid season and on. Scored 2 goals against ESA on the run of play and a game winner in district. With a more experienced supporting cast, he will be looking to score a lot more. He has been very dominate in the jv matches prior to becoming a starter on the varsity side.

Couple of suggestions: Jacob Lofaso, Fontainebleau -- started every game at outside mid and quickly adjusted to the high school level in arguably one of the toughest districts in the state. Really good ball skills and soccer IQ, and was a large factor in the Bulldogs' run to the Division I state quarterfinals. Also just a U14 in club ball if I remember right. Baylor Stanworth, Lakeshore -- started every game at outside back for the Titans on a defensive unit that didn't allow a goal in district play. Big and smart as a defender, knows when to make runs forward and when to stay back. Jacob Lofaso was an unsung hero for Fontainebleau this year. He might've only had a few goals, but he was always a pivotal player in every attack. At only 5' 6" -ish and around 125 pounds, he held his ground in one of the toughest districts, playing teams like Mandeville, St. Pauls, and Northshore. There's no way Fontainebleau could have accomplished nearly as much as they did without this kid.

Christian Wilson is a Freshman from Pineville High School. He started at midfield all year. He has ball skills that are as good as any player in the state. As he continues to grow, he will be a player to watch. Unfortunately, playing in Central Louisiana, he doesn't get the same exposure as players from other areas of the state.

ESA's Mathew Pisani, Story Frantzen, and Hunter Ardizone. All three started just about every game this year for the falcons.

Congrats to Mathew Pisani and Hunter Ardizone on being named to the All-State Freshman first team! These two boys played on a team that didn't do a lot of subbing and averaged 70+ minutes per game. Pisani was third on the team in scoring playing forward. Ardizone played midfield and showed great touch, vision and passing. They have an understanding for the game well beyond their years and aren't afraid of the big moments. They played a major part in ESA advancing to the quarter finals in this years playoffs. Way to go guys!
