Pine is a victim of geography in Div IV District 5. That is a murderer's row of a district schedule they get to keep. Kudos to them for keeping up the effort and developing their program.
Sacred Heart loses a number of division and district rivalries in ending up in DIII. They do pick up Ursuline in their new district which should be a natural rivalry and Lusher joins them as well. I do not envy their weekday trips to Franklinton and Bogalusa for district games.
Newman ends up as odd man out in Orleans/Jefferson and gets to travel to three parishes for district games. Newman gets to pass 5 or 6 District 7 and 8 schools to get to some of their games. They better watch out for Houma Christian. They are young and motivated with strong support from their school and parents and will quickly develop into a program that will compete to win in every game.
I am not certain why they have one large District 7 in the top three classifications but split them into two 4 team districts in D IV. I assume there was a reason.
I know this is the way a lot of folks like it and understand some of the reasons why but I would rather 5 or 6 larger districts per Division to make the PR more reliable and a District title and all-District honors mean more.

Some real head-scratchers on this list.
Div I needs two separate districts on the south shore of New Orleans. If you want to join Chalmette withe Catholic schools for travel reasons, fine, but MCA or DHS versus Higgins or Ehret is pointless. Chapelle has also routinely blown out Bonnabel, GK, et al.
And what if the five public school teams vote for a home-and-home district schedule? They might want to save themselves the trouble of finding more games. Should MCA, Dominican, and Chapelle have to play 14 district games? That would kill their power ratings and prevent them from playing as many tough non-district games.
Div II: why not switch De La Salle and TJ? Then you get one district of the 2 north shore schools plus BF/Cabrini/DLS, then a second district with EJ plus the West Bank schools.
Div III: why the massive Bogalusa to New Orleans district? Split off the north shore schools, put Lutcher with the bayou district, and consolidate the remaining New Orleans schools into one district.
Div 4: I just don't get how McGehee, Newman, and Country Day can be in three different districts.

I do know now that the reason for the Erath and Notre Dame switch not happening is because one district is all co Ed teams and the other has both genders. Still a huge improvement over the Morgan City to Lake Charles original district.

Covington, Hammond, Ponchatoula and SSA in the same district? I guess that's one way for Mandevile and Fontainebleau to have a better chance of winning district. It also hurts SSA in regards to the PR considerably while helping Mandy FHS and NHS. I smell a rat here.

Are you serious? Why would anyone suggest that you break up such a competitive district as the Div I Northshore district. Devastating for both SSA and SPS. WHAT IDIOTS.

The suggestion for that was written and submitted by Covington HS and Hammond HS. Coach Inman of CHS has posted about this on the boys' thread.

The suggestion for that was written and submitted by Covington HS and Hammond HS. Coach Inman of CHS has posted about this on the boys' thread. I see his post there, but he gives no reason for the split. No suggestion that it will improve anything for anyone. I know he's out of the mix in district most years, but this makes SAA's regular season so much less compelling. SSA will make the playoffs and do well either way. These rivalries are important to these kids. It makes the regular season important. This takes that all away.

If I were SSA, I would drop back down to Div II and play with Lakeshore and Ben Franklin.

I don't have a dog in this hunt any more, but as noted a couple of times above, with the power rankings now the driving force, you are going to see significantly diluted district schedules with most districts opting to play each other once. Certain strong districts will play twice to enhance each other's PR. But as someone said, why in the world would SSA want to play twice in that district?
I realize that this re-districting is driven more by the football gawds, from looking at it myopically from a girls soccer perspective, what I don't understand is that you have an 8 team district in Div I and III -- and so certainly there's precedent. Why not then combine districts 4 and 5 in Div I, creating an 8 team district, thereby re-uniting SSA with Mandeville and Fontainebleau?

Could be wrong but I do not believe football had anything to do with this re-districting.

Could be wrong but I do not believe football had anything to do with this re-districting. in a way, it does. everyone that likes the northshore big district staying together does so because they see it work well in football, whether or not it really does in other sports maybe two split districts are better for soccer, probably not, but it will never happen. schools like having the same opponents in every sport on the southshore, same thing. there's the proposal for the big district with 8 teams but most likely it will be split 4 and 4 bc that's how football does it between Catholic League and JP 4 and 4 is the sweet spot where it can go either way... any less teams and it's always one district. any more and it's always two

If I were SSA, I would drop back down to Div II and play with Lakeshore and Ben Franklin. I don't think SSA would consider, even for a moment, dropping to Div II. I believe they see their rivals as Mount Carmel and Dominican, moreso than Mandeville and Fountainbleue. Probably would not attract the players they do if they weren't facing off year after year with those big Div I programs across the lake.

SSA's natural rivals in large part are Fontainebleau and Mandeville. The players all know each other and it has come down to SSA and FHS for the title year after year. MCA and Dominican would consider each other rivals in the same way. The decision by Hammond and Covington to propose a split did not take into regard the best interest of SSA or SPS and considering the fact that this is the only sport LHSAA is splitting the district for is soccer, I have to hope the district will be restored as it always has been. Should the districts stay as they are and Hammond, covington, and ponchatoula all vote to play two district games, it could have a serious affect on our playoff seeding. I've said my piece and we are fighting to have our competitive district restored.

IMO, this really hurts SSA and helps Fontainebleau, Mandeville and Northshore. Based on recent years results, Hammond, Covington and Ponchatoula do not win many games. Those of us in this district lose Power Ranking points by playing them. They actually gain more points losing to us than we gain with a win. If this split of the district does happen and those schools (not SSA) vote to play twice, SSA's power ranking will be drastically affected. Sure SSA can schedule the better opponents in their non district schedule. They always do. Most of us scheduled each other twice anyway (only one round of district games). This is a good deal for MHS, FHS, and NHS. Very, very bad for SSA. Hope it works out Mike.

3 team districts to 8 team districts. Can anyone say with a straight face that it makes sense to have such uneven districts?
It might make more sense if district champions did NOT get an automatic playoff berth.

You have 6, 7, 6 and 8 districts. That is not too many automatic playoff berths.
But to your point the 3 team District 6 in D4 looks like it could have been split into District 7 and 8. However, Houma would be a difficult fit for 7 or 8.
District 4 in D2 is more difficult to merge into other districts.
