This tournament was cancelled on Thursday and today I hear that they will only refund you half the entry fees and give u a credit for 50 dollars for next year, that is insane. money racket, and scam, I can see them keeping $50 dollars for stuff like medals and trophies that they will loose on, but really, I hope everyone gets together and make these guys come to their senses!,
i had more respect for them but not anymore,
come on guys y'all are not thinking of your tournament next year and parents who's money y'all just stole from.
I know of three associations that will boycott it and would not be surprised if more will too.
keep fifty and call it a wash, y'all are one of the biggest clubs around, be a leader not a stealer,

I agree it sounds like bad business but their policy is clearly stated in their rules regarding cancellations and refunds. Only keeping enough money to avoid taking a major hit on the weekend seems appropriate but I have no clue how much that number may be.
"EXTERNAL CONDITIONS, WEATHER, ETC.
In the event of inclement weather, the Tournament Director has the authority to restructure or cancel the tournament. It may not be rescheduled and no refunds will be issued. "

" REAL INTERESTING I have no dog in the fight but FYI
Here are the numbers I come up with. U 10 AND BELOW----TOTAL TEAMS 23 x $225= $5175 U 11 NAD U 12 ----- TOTAL TEAMS 36x$237=$8532 u13 AND ABOVE ---- TOTAL TEAMs 42x $262=11,004
If above post is correct with half entry back this nets BRSC $24,711. I bet the refs didn't get paid? Correct me if I am wrong.
101 Total team at $50 would net them $2159
FYI

So I paid $450 and got nothing in return. Where else could I pay $450 and get nothing in return and be happy with half a refund. I can tell the Red Stick cup one thing. They will never see onr of our teams play in there tournament again.

Wow never thought about actual amount but that's a lot!
Lsa needs to get involved in this, but they won't get their hands dirty with one of their biggest clubs!

And what is it that LSA could do? Nothing. They would have no power over what BRSC refunded teams, especially if the refund policy is spelled out in the application. And, from a club perspective, I would not want LSA telling me what to do with my tournament anyway. No club would.

From my experience, The biggest cost to hold a tourney is the refs fees. If they all got paid, I am Fine with taking half the entries, however, if they didn't, SHAME ON YOU FOR TRYING TO MAKE A PROFIT WITH NO TOURNEY Agree BAD BUSINESS

Last I checked, Brsc is a part of Lsa, if I had a bad employee doing bad business I would at least look into it!

LSA, even if it wanted to, can not control what BRSC refunds or does not refund. And, they do not have an employee/employer relationship.

Check refund policies before you register for tournament. I know some teams that wait to pay til they get to tournament for this very reason. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using proboards

Youth Soccer is a business. Even more so for our biggest clubs. There is rent to be paid, payrolls to be met, taxes to be paid, all of which comes our of the pocketbooks of the families. Tournaments are a way for the biggest clubs to supplement their income and often an important part of budgeting. This is not a secret and simply the way things are in our sport. Decisions made are designed to protect the club, and in the case of LSA, our biggest clubs, not the individual teams or players. This is true from top to bottom and is no different from how any other business is run. I do not mean this as a criticism just a reality check for those who are looking for a different resolution. With that said, there are lots of tournaments out there to choose from, more every year, that in and of itself may force these tournaments to be more competitive in their practices.

I have paid for many tournaments at check in. It depends on the tournament. I suspect that the weather issues this year will make more and more people check cancelation policies for tournaments and they will probably have to adjust.
I noticed certain tournaments that were stay and play have dropped that provision for likely the same reason.

You think LSA will step in?!? LSA can't even sit down at a table and plan their own activities...odp events on LCSL makeup weekend where everyone has games and coaches can't do both. Not to mention reschedule procedures where certain clubs are allowed to force a "compromise" on where games are played. Leslie leaving was the worst thing for competitive soccer in this state. Sorry for the tangent rant but they have enough of their own problems to worry about anyone else's.

So I pay you my entry fee and hope you dont cancel the tournament, but if you do I still give you half my money. Wow thats nice! Not! there are many other tournaments out there. We will not be back to this one for sure. Just may have to go out of state next year. Thanks Red Stick Cup!!
