I had an instance tonight that I believed (and was always told by coaches/players that this was a straight red) was a foul. My keeper bent down and scooped up the ball. I took a sigh of relief because I thought the play was over and the ball was safe. My keeper took 2 steps and a kid came sliding out of no where and took my keeper out. The referee didn't even give a yellow. Just wondering if that was a correct call. The score was 2-1 in favor of my team. This was the NIAL tournament so I don't know if rules differ or not, but for a 13 year old to take that hit and NOT complain. I was very proud of my player and sorta embarrassed for myself because I was SCREAMING for a red lol but should that have been a red or not?? I don't wanna catch myself yelling at refs if they don't deserve it ?

If what you say is correct and your keeper did in fact have the time to collect them self and take a couple of steps before being hit, then yes. Red card for serious foul play (I think, might be the wrong verbage). If, however, it was a scrum in the box or a breakaway where the attacker is charging towards the ball and then hits the keeper after they collect it due to momentum, then we have a stern talking to after awarding an direct free kick

Yea I was a keeper in high school (which was last year ?) and I know that if there is a pile of people, don't expect a call, but EVERYONE had turned their backs and started jogging back to await the keepers punt, but one kid came flying in and took him out. This kid had a temper all night! I may have marked my most aggravating kid on him for that purpose though ?

Where was game played? Because of the amount of rain in parts of Louisiana yesterday, I can certainly see a player on a sloppy field trying to stop their run and sliding "out of nowhere" and clattering right into the keeper. Which would certainly explain why the refere may have seen it that way and didn't feel a caution or send off was warranted.
Just one possible explanation, wasn't there so just using your description to offer theory.

It was at NCS. Field was dry. Artificial turf. I don't think anyone was slipping. I was sprinting up and down my coaches box without losing control lol

Glad your keeper is ok. Sounds like that could have been nasty.

Looked nasty. That's why I yelled for a red. My keeper threw the ball away because he wasn't expecting it. He was born in England though so he has that flipper blood in him
