Goal BF! Cadie Higginson free kick from about 30. Just under the crossbar. Keeper got a hand to it but too much power behind that one. 50th minute goal to make it 2-0.

LS corner. 18 to take. Over almost everyone, one time shot from beyond the back post, saved fairly easily.

Probably the best full-team effort out of BF's four consecutive state championships. Besides the quality play as expected from Cadie, Noelle, and Amalia, the other BF players showed poise, patience, and intelligence. Noteworthy performances from #8 at center back (Amari?), who cleaned up most of the loose balls in the back and allowed Amalia to concentrate on shutting down Lakeshore's striker #5; #4 at defensive mid (Sophie?), who won a lot of balls and distributed well; and #7 at wing/forward (Gabrielle), credited with the first goal. Even when it was 0-0 and 1-0, this outcome never seemed in doubt. Congratulations Falcons!

First congrats to Franklin on 4 in a row. What an amazing accomplishment.
Some observations: 1. If Lakeshore keeper doesn't give up the own goal this would have been a much more tense affair. Their defensive tactics largely worked, though they were unable to transition into attack smoothly. 2. It wasn't a classic Franklin performance offensively, but both Higginsons showed great great individual skill and talent. C. Higginson free kick was a bomb. Steiner and DeMarco had a bunch of crucial moments in midfield. The back line did their job keeping pressure off the GK. 3. This Franklin victory was all about securing the legacy of this special class. 4 years, 4 titles, 2 losses. What a group. 4. Next year?
Congrats Coach Jose, it was fun to watch!

With halftime in the Div I game I thought it a good time to come to the rescue of Lakeshore keeper Ali Bernard.
She played a huge game last night and only let one ball in during the run of play...and that includes going literally toe-to-toe with both Higginson twins during the evening.
So don't diminish her efforts by assigning her an own goal.
She tried to make a play on a tough ball from a weird angle but when she came down with it she was inside the goal.
Don't tell her she made a save and then scored on herself.
Not fair to her or the BF player who sent it in.

Lakeshore keeper played a great match, but clearly an Own Goal... If she doesn't touch the ball the intended cross does not go in the goal. No shame in that, but the momentum of her second touch carried the ball in the goal. Video above to be viewed if my version seems harsh.
