VC shot barely wide of the back post. And there was a runner to the back post who just missed tapping it in.

VC long range shot, just wide past a diving keeper.

Goal VC!! 97th minute. Great dribbling on the right wing. Shot from a tight angle and scored! I believe it was #16 Grace Champagne.
2-1 VC ahead.

My assumption is this comment was about the boys game after ours. There was a pk call that ended up being the deciding goal and all his other posts were in that thread.
Our game was a great game. 3 quality goals and girls playing their hearts out as it came down to the wire. Congrats to Coach Phil and Vandebilt on their win. I'm so proud of my girls for everything they accomplished this year. Showed a lot of character to fight back after being down 1-0 3 mins in.
In reference to calls, after the game I had about 15 messages from coaches watching the game that concurred that we could have easily had 3 pks in the game. After watching the nfhs broadcast back I have to completely agree. Referee was afraid to make a big call that could influence the game. 3 times keeper came through player in box with no touch on the ball or attempt to play it.
Having played in 3 of these games in the last 5 years though I have come to know that there will always be non calls or calls that influence the game on both sides and you have to overcome those to win.
To my 7 seniors, what great careers at Loyola with 2 finals appearances in 2 different divisions and 3 club state championships to your name. Despite all the accomplishments the thing I was most proud of tonight was the smile on their faces after the game and their genuine congratulations they showed to the winners after a heartbreaking loss. I have preached No Regrets this season and we could walk off proud because we have none.

Well said coach, I couldn't agree more about your seniors, having played with and against them over the last 8 years, there isn't a better group of kids. I do hope you are right about the above comment, not that the D3 boys FINAL player deserved a statement like that either, at least it wasn't aimed at girls I know and care about. Congrats on a great season.

I have debated about posting video for a few days now. I think now that the dust has settled it's ok to try and understand what constitutes a penalty. This is in no way to dispute the result of our game or take anything away from it because it was a fantastic game by both teams. I felt I had a clear understanding until 3 of these. I can see how 1 of them could be considered shoulder to shoulder but the other 3 to me are clear. So let's play You Make the Call!

I am just a fan, but the first two videos I would not make a call. The third video in my opinion is a foul and should be a penalty. The fourth video, a foul may have occurred but I would not make the call as a penalty kick would be harsh penalty (offensive player was not in a position to score). Maybe that should not come into play but I could see the ref thinking this. I would defer to CardsInHand - I am a mere fan who enjoys telling the ref he blew the call even though I have no idea if he did or not.

The thing in all three with the keeper is from the video she never touches the ball and gets the player every time. It does not matter if the player is going to or from goal when fouled, the fact is a foul occurred inside the box which results in a pk. If the keeper gets the ball first it is a different story. The shoulder to shoulder from the video I would say play on. The problem is people misunderstand the privilege of a keeper and think inside the box it is free play for them. Not directing this to you thedude this is a common misunderstanding from fans. From the twitter feed sounds like it was a great game and hard fought. As a ref it would be tough to make the call but Loyola should have been awarded multiple PKs in my opinion. With that being said congrats to both teams for making it this far and having an outstanding season.

First video-I wouldn't have made the call there from either the angle of the video nor the angle of the ref as it looks like the keeper actually makes a save on the play from Loyola's touch on the ball and where the ball deflects after the touch
Second video-if the forward had touched the ball right before the collision, yes. However, it doesn't look like she got that final touch on the ball and that it was just a collision of two players both making a play for the ball and both missing.
Third video-yeah, that's probably PK worthy based on the video alone and not knowing how the referee was letting other fouls play out in other parts of the pitch. Also depends on the forward and if she was known(or had previously in the game) gone down easily
Fourth video-really determines whether the ref(who had a great position on the play) thought that the keeper was going for the ball or just the player.

The ball is a fifty fifty ball and both players are trying to get to it. I am probably wrong, but I would give plenty of leeway to the goalie on that play. Although a foul may have occurred, I think the ref exercised the use of discretion on that play. After reviewing the second video, it appears the goalie may have impeded the offensive player once the player and the ball went by her (goalie)and a foul may have been warranted. In defense of the ref, this was a bang bang play and it is easy to second guess after reviewing the video. I can see why snoopdog might be a little upset as you figure the ref would have called a penalty on at least one of these plays.

The first one is very close. I slowed it down and it does look like keeper saves the ball then gets the player. The 4th video just imagine it being a field player plowing through the back of the girl challenging for the header instead of the keeper. Although there is no play for her to go to goal it is still reckless and she tackles the player with no ball. I sent it to a referee and he said same thing, the pure carelessness of the tackle and not getting ball could of warranted a few PKs. Unfortunately, the ref does not have a chance to look at video replay and has to make split second decisions. For anyone who hasn't done it and is interested, it gives a whole new perspective on the game. I do not want to take anything away from Vanderbilt also by saying these should of been PKs and I know coach Matlock has no intention of doing this. He is a great coach and guy.

In the last video, the only thing the goalie didn't do was use the crown of her helmet...

I thought I also had a pretty good understanding of what warrants a pk but I guess I need to rethink that position. These "calls" or no calls had a drastic impact on the outcome of this game. Even if one of these was called and converted the outcome of the game is more than likely different. I thought there should have been three called which again if converted would definitely have made a difference,
