Well-played game by two outstanding teams with contrasting styles -- Mount Carmel with more of a possession game while Fontainebleau looked for counters. Fontainebleau had several chances to score, especially in the first half with a volley off a throw-in that was just wide left, and two chances on shots on the ground that were inches right of the net (one in each half), but some nights the ball just won't go in the net -- hey, that's soccer.
MCA played outstanding defense all night, especially against FHS' Bailey Tadlock where they did not let her get open looks for shots, and capitalized on their opportunities to take a well-earned win.
Congratulations to Mount Carmel on successfully defending their championship -- never an easy thing to accomplish. I enjoyed talking with some of the parents after the game.
To the Lady Bulldogs, thanks for a great run this season. You have represented our community with class and dignity all season, and as the parent of two Fontainebleau grads I couldn't be prouder of y'all. We were hoping for two Mandeville victories last night (congrats to Lakeshore on their first team state championship in school history!) but it just wasn't to be.
Also congratulations to FHS' Emily Eberts and Alivia Johnson on making the All-Academic Composite Team!
