2x40 min halves (regulation)
2x10 min halves (1st overtime period, NOT sudden victory)
2x5 min halves (sudden victory)
Kicks from the mark (KFTM)
In KFTM the coach may choose any 5 from his roster, they do not have to be on the field at the final whistle.
If tied after 5 kicks, the coach chooses a new 5 kickers (cannot be any of the first 5) in a 1-for-1 format from this point forward. If tied after 10 kicks, the coach may choose any 5 on his roster.

Will score board be stopped at 2 mins and ref on field keeps after for stopage time, or just straight 40 like college?? Seen both this season? Was told that next year that's how it will be straight 40 unless refs signals for stoppage to booth ?

In terms of the gate fee, is it a rule that the Home team must split the profit they make from the gate?

From what I am gathering (my first year in LA), the quarterfinal matches will be played at the lower seeds home field? Is this correct? If so, why is it not the higher seeds home field? Where are the semi finals played?

Where are the semi finals played? The highest seed will host quarters unless the lower sead traveled in the second round. Higher seed host semi no matter travel if I’m not mistaken.

Then there is no question that when the horn sounds, time has expired. Imagine - no more whining about blowing the ball dead on a breakaway or at a free kick when the time is kept on your wrist and expires. Or even if a shot beats the keeper then the horn sounds before it crosses the goal line. It is done this way in many places - Pennsylvania being one, p_malinich can testify. Would make for a great off-season discussion.

To elaborate briefly, stoppage time is built into the game. Clock stops after goal until restart at center. Also stops at injuries that are of an extended nature. Eliminates so much of the gamesmanship.

Quick question- if a player was red carded during a team’s last regular season game, does the disqualification carry over into the playoffs?

Probably a Daktronics 5500 board to operate scoreboard and on the right hand side of keypad is a button to switch clock direction. See below, it is by the Start/Stop I believe.

In NFHS you start at 40:00 and go down to 00:00

Clock ticks down from 40:00 to 2:00. The CR is responsible for the true game time. Stopping the clock at 2:00 allows for the CR to manage the end of the match with his own watch.
Refs are supposed to display when stop clock occurs. Some do, some don’t.
Problem with the way NCAA does it, is that for high school there isnt always someone in the press box to control the clock and/or there isnt always a scorebord.

Ticking up from 0:00 to 40:00 is club or FIFA procedure and shouldn’t be done in NFHS.

In NFHS you start at 40:00 and go down to 00:00 I check with refs before the game and make sure they are good with it. I just did it for the first time against BRHS and ref said "Cool".
I will continue to check with refs before doing it. I try to keep up with ref on stopping the time (as previously mentioned after scores, long injury time, etc.) but not always great at that.
NFHS says go down to 00:00? Not stop at 2:00?
NFHS also says throw ins are with two hands but we know how that goes.

The whole stop at 2:00 thing is because clock operators aren't trained to know when to start and stop the clock. Not that it's difficult or anything but they usually aren't paying much attention and let the clock run. So if it does run and doesn't stop for goals, cards, injuries, etc and it's a 1 goal game you always have that one guy screaming down time is up when we have 2 minutes remaining. And shame on the refs if they aren't giving the full amount of time in a close game.
It should not matter where the time is kept, watch or scoreboard, the integrity of the game shouldn't be compromised. It's a lot easier sell when the time is visible on the scoreboard than to have a super secret watch.

Goals, injuries (not a quick assessment but to call the trainer), yellow card, red card, penalty kick, any time the referee orders it stopped. NFHS 7.4.1
