I think St. Paul is more like Alabama. They’ve been great for a much longer time period and they seem to have a huge fan base. I don’t know Jesuit as well because we’ve not played them in the past 3 years. I think St. Paul will put Jesuit in some very bad spots but then again the Blue Jays found a way last year. Should be great game and I’ll go with St. Paul 2-1 in extra time.

This whole thread got out of hand because people are very silly ( this is why I usually only post scores). The point I was trying to make with my offhanded comment was that the select schools can pull players from all over a region whereas public schools have to stay within district boundaries created by their parish school boards. That is a fact! All of this was brought up in the Select/Non Select thread that people have been posting on for over a week. So I apologize for insinuating that St Paul’s and Jesuit recruit. What both of these coaches have done is created excellent programs that attract the best players in their area and the parents and players should be thankful they have them for coaches.

I would say Jesuit is like the New York Yankees and St. Paul’s is the New England Patriots So Jesuit is the best team money can buy that of late hasn’t produced? And St Paul has the GOAT coach and star player?

That being said, saying SPS has been great “for a much longer time period” than Jesuit is absurd. That’s all I got— always fun keeping up with the Jays/LA high school soccer on ole LA prep. Good health and best of luck to both teams Saturday!

And St Paul has the GOAT coach and star player? Whoa watch it there, the Yankees are returning! My thinking was Jesuit has the most state championships So historically they’re the best just like the Yankees, and St. Paul’s has only recently built this dynasty recently under coach moser Just like the patriots and Belicheck

Pro teams continue with players for more than 4 years so I don’t think pro sports is a good comparison. Who cares about the past. My only question right now is how many will St. Paul beat The cry baby blue jays by?

I have watched SPS for almost 10 years now and their climb to the top of Louisiana HS soccer. I have seen many Wolves/ Blue Jay matches during this time. Great rivalry. IMO, Coach Collins is the integral factor in their success. He knows how to push his younger players to their max effort and let his experience players create scoring. His D is always solid. He's active in youth soccer that shows his passion for the game. He reminds me of a soccer Yoda. SPS has established a first class HS program from top to.bottom. They do pipeline players into school from local clubs. There are 3 clubs in a <10 mile radius. Their staff for the 8th, 9th and teams are experienced. Players move up each year and it is very competitive to make a roster spot. IMO, the juniors and some sophs on the jv team could be varsity starters on all of the local teams. That's how deep the pool is as far as talent. The school principal is a true soccer enthusiast and former AD, teacher and alumnus. Sort of the six behind the curtain. He also has a similar fashion sense like Coach Moser. Coach Moser has developed a system of play that has been successful. 'If it ain't broke don't fix it' applies. They break down into 3v3, 4v3, wide etc then center, keep it wide, switch etc. Strong midfield play on attack. Experienced players who can create spontaneously. Always keeping their shape. Both schools are academic powerhouses too. SPS is a U.S. Blue Ribbon school. Strong alumni support. If you want to continue a Catholic Jesuit or LaSallian education, that's the choice. Also all religions are welcomed.

I hope St. Paul pounds Jesuit. Jesuit has no idea why I’m so against them and will still likely not get it after reading my view but here it goes! In 2003 quarter finals Gallstar had 14 kids he had coached in his spare time for 6 years. The first year I got them on my club team we were 3-18. That summer I told 16 kids to meet me at this park every night at 5:30. We went 17-1-1 the following season losing to Lafayette in the state finals. We won a lot of games. Their senior year they lost to Jesuit 1-0 on a PK. Jesuit was the worst winners I have ever seen. Never lost my distaste for them. Saw the same Trash talk after the Dutchtown win. St. Paul has ended St. Amant’s season two out of the last three years. Each time their parents line the entrance and hug and pat our kids on the back. That’s what winners do. So Jesuit be arrogant and just know it’s not admired! Read more: laprepsoccer.proboards.com/thread/23383/3rd-game?page=1#ixzz5foWoMq4g

Idk if you watched the end of last year’s game but while the St. Paul’s players were down on the game they had just lost, countless Jesuit players when up to hug them and tell them how great it has been to play them for the past 10 or so years and how sad it is to be over. The same thing happened after the Catholic game that ended in PK’s. All y’all see it what gets put to the public, but every year Jesuit is pulling for St. Paul’s in the playoffs and vice versa because we want to play each other because we know that we bring the best out of each other on the field. Yes I’m a Jesuit alum and yes I was a part of that team last year and yes I knew many of the Saint Paul’s and catholic players since we were young.

Jesuit fans! Not players. Just like I thought. You missed it again. I’m speaking of a program. You’re talking one moment. Just read all the Jesuit post after Dutchtown. Get a flavorful mouthful and tell me about hugs and kisses.

To hope a group of kids who have worked extremely hard to get to where they are to lose because of somethig they cannot control doesn’t sound too fair

I’ll just root for St. Paul since I like Coach Moser in a pair of jeans! He better get some new jeans from the boosters if they win it all. Nothing against any kid from Jesuit now or then but those parents seem to keep coming.
