Maybe this is just me trying to draw out the soccer season but it sure would be cool to have a 3rd place game. Especially with the 2 private powerhouses being in the finals again and since Northshore and St. Amant never played each other this year I think it would be a great game. I realize that you have the nay sayers that will say that the kids wouldn’t care but I think their competitive edge when they get in the field would be to win regardless. This year in Division I the winner would be the public school champ unofficially as it played out.

Never been a fan of the third place games such as at the World Cup. If you win you still lose and if you lose then it means you lost your final two games while also being in the top 4. Harsh It’s also often used as a way to get everyone playing time like back up keepers and such which brings the level down slightly.

If Adrian and Laz want to have a closed door game I’d be very interested to watch that.

As much as I would love to see them play the kids are spent. I speak for my own in this matter. They left all they had In Covington last night and I suspect Northshore in Metairie. We will flip a coin and I’ll do it honest. Coyi you call it and I’ll let you know.

Oh come on now. 16-18 year olds recover a lot quicker than we do and I guarantee SP and Jesuit aren’t spent enough physically to play a game on Saturday. Mentally by Wednesday most will be back to normal lives with girlfriends, club soccer, baseball or whatever the case is. Most are pretty resilient. It probably won’t happen but I think it would have been a great match.

I meant more from the mental side. Now heads or tails.

Tell Northshore congrats on behalf of Gallstar 1 and 2. The greatest compliment in the world is when someone copies you: we have people naming their kids Gallstar. I hope St. Paul pounds Jesuit. Jesuit has no idea why I’m so against them but here it goes! In 2003 quarter finals Gallstar had 14 kids he had coached in his spare time for 6 years. The first year I got them on my club team we were 3-18. That summer I told 16 kids to meet me at this park every night at 5:30. We went 17-1-1 the following season losing to Lafayette in the state finals. We won a lot of games. Their senior year they lost to Jesuit 1-0 on a PK. Jesuit was the worst winners I have ever seen. Never lost my distaste for them. Saw the same Trash after the Dutchtown win. St. Paul has ended St. Amant’s season two out of the last three years. Each time their parents line the entrance and hug and pat our kids on the back. That’s what winners do. So Jesuit be arrogant and just know it’s not admired!

Well, tell St Amant congrats from coyi 1,2 and 3 as well. That makes sense and if you are a Jesuit alum that has to be tough to root against them. Last night Jesuit was a class act from what I saw both the fans and the players. I was also busy putting up my video camera and posting on the NHS men’s socer twitter account and then made a b-line to congratulate my boys on a superb season. Of course, many of the Jesuit players also play with the Northshore players so many of them and the fans know each other. That is pretty cool of the SP fans though. Haven’t seen that happen from what I can recall in my lifetime. It should be a great finals match.

I will echo Coyi comments about what he saw last night out of Jesuit. Class. From whistle to whistle they were enemies. After the final whistle I saw nothing but mutual respect in the exchanges of hand shakes and some hugs. Again, congratulations Jesuit. Well deserved.

I totally understand after reading what he wrote. Who are we to tell this man how he should or shouldn’t feel. He saw it, he lived it, we did not. I’ve met him, he’s a passionate man and great guy. Sometimes these things hit you and your team/kids and it hurts to the core. I’ve been there and it’s not a good feeling. Cheers 🍻

Last year when we went down to Metairie with our Recreational Tornados team and just pasted their top 03 team. You should have heard the grumbling in that one and one of their parents got real upset when I said man calm down we’re just a rec team. He said a rev team? Yes a rec. team. I thought he blew an O ring on his way out of the parking lot. That afternoon they’re whacking some team 7-0 and there he and his future blue jay friends are yelling. Keep pounding boys! Yeah that’s great 😃! Now that Coach Stuart is at Holy Cross he’s going to have a lot of kids that want to attend that school. Just like when Brother Martin use to pull quiet a few.

You have experienced what you have experienced. I doubt there is much I can say to change your mind so I will not even try. I will only leave you with a bit of information on the setup in New Orleans. Fire is the largest club. The top team feeds both the public and private schools in the metropolitan area. The boys Red team typically has boys who go to Jesuit, Brother Martin, Holy Cross and Newman, as well as several that go to public schools or smaller private schools. I would tell you in my experience very few kids select a high school in New Orleans based upon the soccer program. I imagine it is the same in other areas where there are so many private schools. Most kids here going to private school either pick the school their family has a relationship or where their friends are going.
